RGH Weird Zephyr problem.

So I have a halo 3 zephyr board that I decided to install a cr in. Everything went great but it's got this weird problem that in order to get it to boot you have to turn it on for 30 seconds or so then turn it off and back on and it will boot. Now after it boots the first time you can turn it on and off all you like and it will boot just fine but if you leave it off for an hour or so then it won't boot first time. Now when it doesn't boot the cr flashes green once and then stops just like it does when it boots. Thinking it was just a really slow boot time on first boot I left it for like 5 min and it still didn't boot but turned off and back on and it booted immediately.

This is a cold boot "bug". When the XBOX CPU is cold it takes longer to boot, once warm up it will boot consistently and fast. I have come across this issue once (there is a forum post about it as well). As of this date I have yet to find a solution.

If you can, test my theory out. Unplug the fan, run the XBOX for a 3-5 minutes. Turn it off, wait 30 seconds, then try and boot and see how it goes.

Additionally, you may want to post pictures of your install, wiring, and soldering just in case it's something else..

All the wiring has been tested with a meter and routed properly. That's something I always do before I even boot the system to the dash after a cr install. As for unplugging the fan I don't understand why. All I have to do it turn the system on for 30 seconds and it doesn't boot then cycle the power and it boots fine.

OK.

Now, are you pulling the power each time? I have found some consoles to boot slow/odd on first boot after being plugged in, but any time after that (provided its still plugged in) it boots fine.

I would try the 68NF on RST, it really helps with Jaspers and won't hurt or damage anything.

Doesn't seem to make a difference if I unplug the power or not. I'm going to try the cap and see what that does. It's just really weird. I've done about 30 rgh's and this is the first time I've seen this. I've read allot of people have weird issues with zephyr boards but I've done a few and never had a problem.

I think zephyrs are hit and miss, some will boot (be thankfull that the one you got boots) and some dont, ive seen a lot of threads her about them even some of the old pros can have difficulty, My zephyr was like yours turn it on then off and back on again and it boots the just weird lol :D
