Hi, i just installed my mod chip,(a X3) and i turn it on and it works fine. But im at this screen that has like network flash install (somthing like that) and 2 more with the word flash in it, the unlock and lock hdd. Me and my dad tryed to flash it with a cd, we followed the tutorial and everthing, it dident work. so im trying the Http way, and i see the ip adress 192.168.0.99, but when i type it into my comp, it dont work. i am connected to my xbox with a crossover cable. But i noticed in all the pictures on the tutorial, it says flashBIOS 3.0.3, but mine says flashBIOS 3.0.1 . im on a v1.0 xbox by the way. i need help, i wanna mod halo 2 really bad :D

To do a HTTP flash, your xbox and PC have to be on the same subnet. (IP Settings). If the xbox is at 192.168.0.99, you will want to set your PC up so that it is at an IP address that can "connect" to that address.
To make it simple.
Click on Start | Control Panel | Network Connections
Right-click on Local Area Connection and select Properties.
Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and click properties.
Set the IP addres to 192.168.0.100
Set the Subnet mask to 255.255.255.0
Click OK. Now you should be able to connect to the xbox through Internet Explorer and flash the bios.

If you copy the bios on a different disk it might work. My friend and i took 3 different disks just to flash the bios. so you can try a differnet disk or do what TECbox said with the interent

1. 2914 is out if u didnt know (not flaming just updating)
2. where the hell do ppl buy these discs that dont work in an xbox? Ive had a large range of DVD and CD media and have only found that one disc hasnt workd. Either im lucky or the majority of dodgy media is sold in the US.
3. HTTP flash has worked flawless for me and many ppl. If it doesnt work and you dont know how to configure your network settings properly you should pop into the chat room and ask someone nicely for help.

Your xbox is setup but your PC isn't.
Click here for a networking tutorial

Crossover cable is good :)

We find our crappy cds where ever we don't have to spend over $15 for about 50. I do this so i can put more money into my Xbox

You get what you pay for - sometimes yu get lucky, sometimes you don't. Last batch I bought were "buy one pack, get one free" of 50 TDK CDR discs for $20. Not a steal, but good for a reasonabl brand. No cases, but I have a did a similar deal and have 100 slimline cases if I need them. CDRs are pretty much a commodity item now - hell, evn my local food lion has them. Good quality DVDR/RW media will still cost you though.

Not always the CD's my box would never play audio cd's or DVD's from the day I bought that dongle. A call to MS was no help, they wanted me to send it in, and wait. AN x3 and XBMC fixed the problem :D

(When I say fixed, I am talking about streaming the media from my PC, the stupid drive still will not ready anything but Xbox games)
