Not a good sign. These boards are not designed to be resoldered more than 10 times. Likely as not you have damaged something by now.

Your xbox is doing the exact same thing mine was doing when I installed my X3. My problem was that I had a 1.6b version xbox but was using the Flashbios V3.0.1. Your X3 is shipped with flashbios 3.0.1 on the first 1MB bank (1-4) and on the backup bank (press power and eject at the same time). Try booting from the second 1MB bank (5-8) which contains flashbios version 3.0.3. To do this set your switches to off-on-off-off (rather than on-on-off-off for the first 1MB bank). here's the nice sticky about how switch settings relate to memory banks:
http://teamxecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3304

Once you get it up an running I would get a copy of Flashbios v 3.0.3 on your back up bank asap as it will save ur ass down the line.

Good luck.
lmk if it works out.

on-on-off-off ?
then after that how long have I wait because it's black screen
and after that, will I change to off-on-off-off and just press power ?

is thar right way ?

Your back-up won't work on a 1.6b (3.01 prob). You need to boot to bank 5 to get FlashBios 3.03

It can boot disabled (from other post) so the problem is probably not your soldering.

What switch settings are you using?

he's booting from the first bank (1-4) switch settings on-on-off-off (Flashbios v3.0.1)

you need to boot from the second bank (5-8) switch settings off-on-off-off (Flashbios v 3.0.3)

try it again

also, when you boot to the backup by pressing power and eject at the same time, your switch settings do not matter, your xbox will boot to the designated 256k backup bios. In your case, the backupbios installed on your chip when it was shipped to you is version 3.0.1 which will not work on v1.6 or 1.6b xboxs. you need to use Flashbios version 3.0.3 which is only on the second 1mb bank (off-on-off-off). This is what i suggested in my previous post and it doesn't seem like you tried it. read more closely and take a look at that link to the switch setting explaination.

I also suggest that once you DO get it working and you have a hacked bios installed and you can access you xbox via ftp, THEN you replace the backup bios on your modchip with flashbios version 3.0.3 by ftping to your xbox and accessing the "backup" folder in the "admin" directory.

VERY IMPORTANT: because you have a version 1.6 box the current backup bios will NOT work for you because its version 3.0.1. thus it is very important that you do not accidentally write over the flashbios v 3.0.3 located on the second 1mb bank or you will be royally screwed. make sure before you attempt to flash a bios, you change the switch settings to on-on-off-off to flash to the first 1mb bank.

Again...good luck

In his other thread he said that he tired both switch settings and they didn't work.

I wanted to confirm that by "both switch settings" he ment the proper settings.

Good reply though:)

He seems to be setting the switches, then booting to back-up.

now I think I found the problem

I have ried backup y pressing power & eject at same time with switch setting off-on-off-off that means I don't have flashbios 3.03 more right ? :(
what can I do now?

i'm still not sure that you have a serious problem yet. do me a favor and try these steps exactly if you haven't already.

1. set your switches to off-on-off-off with your xbox off
2. boot your box to that bank by tapping the power button
3. the flashbios v 3.0.3 screen should appear

from what you are saying it sounds like you keep trying to boot from the backup or are changing the switches after you have already booted.

Forget your back-up, it isn't going to work. Just set your switches for bank 5678, and power up the Xbox. If you have already flashed over bank 5678, then you need to get your chip reflashed with 3.03.

DO NOT start your Xbox with power and eject. That will not work for you. Set you switches to off-on-off-off, and power on with a quick tap of the power button. This should bring up flash bios 3.03. If not, then you have:

1. an install problem
2. wiped 3.03 from your chip.
