What current PC DVD drive models work for ripping retail 360 discs?

All I keep seeing is dated info on Kreon firmware, 0800 firmware, and old Samsung drives I can't even find on ebay. What is the CURRENT method, possible drive models, and firmware for ripping 360 discs on PC? I'm not asking about burning. I only care about READING retail discs.

Im just assuming u dont have a x360usb pro v2. So if u dont then benq and fat liteon drives flashed with 0800 firmware will rip your games just fine.

Is there a guide somewhere for this? Everything I'm finding with google has broken links for that 0800 firmware and/or involves the x360usb (which I don't have). Are the 360 DVD drives SATA? standard SATA/molex power? or something else? I appreciate the info. My plan is to setup a dedicated drive connected to my PC for this, probably in a USB enclosure rather than internal.

it is standard sata cable and u will need something to power and eject the drive. ck3 mini, pro etc. u will need to flash the firmware with jungleflasher. download jungleflasher and look in the documentation folder for the pdf guide. read the guide for everything u need to know about flashing. Google xbins for the firmware pack.

Maybe i would rather contact some flasher in your area. I am sure most of us can sell you preflashed drive. So you don't have to spend money for other tools.

I find it interesting that all the sites that x360usb.com lists as official retailers are complete sh*t. xconsoles.com doesn't even have it listed, that I could find, and modchip central only accepts Visa cards. WTF is that? Maybe I'll look on ebay or something next month. I miss professional outfits like lik-sang. This stuff is just getting to be more trouble than it's worth. Although, I'm looking forward to the XB1 getting hacked, because I absolutely despise the direction MS tried to go with it and is still going with it.

It's really tough to find supplies these days. No fault of the resellers. Not only is stuff in short supply, but payment Methods keep getting shut down by the payment companies. They don't like mods

damn. So will the x360usb V2 power the DVD drive itself, does it have a standard (SATA/molex) connector, or do I need something more than that? I'm looking to just keep it hooked up to my PC. I decided I'm tired of not having save editors for certain games because of the checksums. I got a XEX and reversed my first one today. It'll be a lot easier to rip my own xexs than to "find" them online, I would think. Never thought PowerPC would be so easy to pickup. I guess all those years messing with MIPS for N64 hacks paid off. :)

I'm not to big in to all that mumbojumbo. Save game editors will turn a perfectly fun game into boring as hell in no time. You mean games when you say xex's?

Well, yeah, but my purpose would be to just get the xex (executable) off the disc to reverse as opposed to burning a copy etc.

Yes. X360usb pro v2 has sata port. You will need sata/molex power adapter or power it from pc. But x360 is quite hard to get. Also it will be more expensive. I suggest you to buy preflashed drive and buy adapter from sata to xbox power socket. You can find them for few dollars. It would be cheapest option. I don't know how much cost x360usb now but I paid 70USD for mine few years ago.
