200gb hdd cost me $209 US dollars at CompUSA with no rebates. Yea i was young and stupid and didn't know better. Yea i feel really sh*tty right now since they actually got 200gb hdd's for under $160.. :x
gotta love compusa. they sell you a brick for 200 dollars. and if you don't wanna buy it they won't stop bugging you until you leave the store. neweg.com 100 bucks for a 200 gig.
Got the Samsung 1614N from Newegg for I think $82 at the time. 160GB/8MB Cache/7200RPM. Not the biggest for the money but this drive never generates any heat and I can never hear it, so I'm liking it. I'll probably put the same drive in my ps2 when I'm done modding it.
Office Depot (and www.officedepot.com) have a Maxtor 300GB 7200rpm with 16MB cache for $149.99 this week(no rebates). If you look at fatwallet or another bargains website you can also get a minifridge or something with it for free heh.
Is the 8MB, cache really worth it cuz its like a $10 differance on these two drives I'm looking at that have the exact same specs just one is 2MB and one is 8MB cache?
Maxtor drive - retail kit. Same price. No rebates. Fry's Electronics ...
(I miss Fry's. I used to live within 30 minutes of three stores - Anaheim, City of Industry, and Fountain Valley, and now my nearest is an hours flight down down to Atlanta )
