What do I do?

I have used the search feature, plenty of times. I still haven't found answers to my questions.

I want to flash my Xbox. I have already taken it apart. I have already taken the drive out and opened it as well. What I was wondering was:

What do I do from here?
What parts do I need to buy? I've seen guides saying to get X360USB Pro and Probe 3, and I've seen others saying to get sputnik360. I don't want to go out and buy parts that I don't need, all I want is something that is going to get the job done right. So what parts do I NEED to buy? Where can I buy them for the cheapest? Can someone point me to the guides on what to do with the parts once I get them?

EDIT: What is PCB? Do I need it? Do I need it even if I were to get X360USB Pro and Probe 3, or sputnik360?

Let's start with what kind of drive do you have?
Unsure of the name, from what I've read its a LiteOn?

S/N D714CG04390100AMG
MS P/N: X851278-004

I'm gonna tell you now that drive is gonna be a pain in the arse to flash

Lite-on drives either have to have trace cuts or the chip drilled into to unlocked them because the SPI was locked by M$
What is considered a pain to one person is easy for another.

OP: You've got a Slim Lite-On, yes? Open it up, check the chip on the PCB, the one surrounded by epoxy..will start with either 03 or 05. Post which one you've got..03 is MXIC, 05 is Winbond. MXIC needs a trace cut and a switch installed, arguably that's the easier of the two. Winbond needs the 'kamikaze' hack, which I'm not even getting into right now. You will need an X360USB and once you let me know which of the two chips you have I can tell whether you need a probe or an unlocked PCB/kamikaze kit.

Edit: Beat me to it Coleman, thanks for finding that pic.

A Winbond takes either a TX Unlocked PCB or the kamikaze hack which requires you drill into that chip, now depending on which one you would like to do that decides what you'll need aside from the X360 USB Pro
You'll want to get an X360USB and an unlocked PCB from TX..unless you feel like trying your luck with the Kamikaze hack. I don't recommend it myself.
So Ill need a X360USB and a PCB, anything else? What about that Probe 3 thing?

I don't really understand why I don't need it and the other drives do, but hey saves me money. Thanks for the help guys.
It has to do with the way MS locked the chips down, MXIC chips have the locking mechanism brought out on a pin or there's some electrical fault with them allowing you to fool the drive into unlocking, I haven't read the technical docs on how it works yet to be honest.. The Winbond chips have the locking circuitry buried inside the chip completely, no way to trick it into unlocking without cutting into the chip with a drill.

Does that mean I'll have to drill into the chip? Or is that what the new PCB is for? I'm handy with computers and all that stuff, but I don't know about that handy...

Nah, that's what you need the new unlocked PCB for. You can read a Winbond fine without unlocking, but to write LT3 back to it you have to unlock with a drill..or you use an unlocked PCB from TX ;) I'd hang on to your old PCB just in case you need it for something, or want to try drilling it later for the fun of it.
