With X3 CE chip installed, when trying to boot into and bank, it turn off then on, then off then on and then frags!! Never seen that b4...

Yes the chip worked b4 flashing. I keep hearing it's the soldering. I will go and recheck, but I cannot figure out if it's the soldering, why would it work before flashing, and then not work after.
yes, immediately after flashing. Okay so I may have flashed the wrong file, but how can I fix it?
if as your profile says u have a 1.6b then i hope u flashed to bank 1 otherwisr you have a problem.

If its any other version then booting with switches set to on,on,off,off,off will boot flashbios3.01 or booting backup will load the same bios (press pwr and eject together)

How can I flash to bank 1 when that's a 25k bank, the X3 bios req's a 1MB bank? I flashed to bank 5678 with the latest X3 bios, then flash went thru yellow then green progress bars, then rebooted. But I couldn't boot to the Rox my Box screen, it was jus black. I can't boot to backup either, it goes frag and 3 attempts of power going on and off.
when i say bank 1 i mean bank 1 of the 2 x 1mb banks (1234) on,on,off,off,off
However if u flashed to 5678 and its a 1.6b then u overflashed the only working flashbios for a 1.6b.
You will have to find a friend with a chipped xbox ver other than a 1.6b then install your chip in this.
From there u could boot backup or bank 1234 then flash it with a working bios and swap it back

Aaah I got you. That makes sense...*%$&#%!!!!! Well thanks anyway. I am on the hunt for a X3 CE modded Xbox. So it can be any other xbox version, 1.0-1.6??
Q. What good is the backup bios if it can easily wiped out like that. I thought the backup bios was stored somewhere else and not in the available banks??
yes just not a 1.6b..could be a 2.6 or x3 user as u can just fit your x3 on the header.

I have received a gift from god. I can boot to X3 on bank 8. Now, b4 I mess anything else up, how do I safeguard myself. I need to get the FlashBIOS 3.0.3 back. How do I do that with the X3 Bios??

Oh yeah, Boot to backup still doesn't work Xbox comes on okay and the X3 light up blue/red but the screen stays blank.
You got a 1mb bios working on a 256k bank? That is a gift from God indeed! 
Anyway... in Config Live you need to find bios tools, and then select flash backup rom.
You want to have flashbios 3.0.3 on your hdd in a folder called c:\bios.
Flash it from there (make sure flash protect off). Then test it out.

The 256k backup bank is a completely seperate chip, it can not be over writen easily, the 4 dip switches on the contol panel do not give access to this bank, you can however over-write the bank in the x3 config live!, it realy depends on the version of xbox you have and the version of flashbios on the backup bank that could cause any problems, ie if you have a x3 (not CE) and a version 1.6b xbox, then you would not be able to load the flashbios as it had version 3.0.1 on the backup bank but if you have a 1.5 or lower it's fine, or if you have a new x3CE then it has version 3.0.3 on the backup and this works fine on the 1.6b....

Sorry I forgot to point out that the backup bios bank can only be loaded by holding the power and eject button at the same time when you switch on, the power light should go orange, this indicates your using the flashbios from the bcakup rom....

From my experience, ALL X3's (old and CE) come with 3.0.1 on the backup chip. Now wether this has changed and i haven't noticed yet, i can't say. But anyway, you can easily tell if you have a working backup bank by trying to boot from it. If it works great leave it. If it doesnt (and flashbios DOES work on your main bank) then reflash the backup bank through config live.
