What else can it do?

Hi folks, I've been messing with my xbox for quite some time now and have found more and more little programs for the xbox that make it more and more useful for everyday life. But I'm sure there is more stuff out there that it can do, but I can't think of it, I hope you guys could help me out with that.

Right now I'm running XBMC so the features my xbox currently has are
DVD player
VCD Player
MP3 Player
CD Player
JPEG Slideshows
Internet Radio
Movie Trailers
Weather
Music Videos (LaunchBrowser)
Internet (LinksBoks)

and last but not least a gamestation that player xbox games (w00t?! no sh*t?!) snes, nes, and genesis games.

So what else can the xbox do? Is there like someprogram that would allow me to use AOL or MSN on my xbox? that would be cool

Linux, mainly. I don't know of any apps to let you do this. I know there is one for surfing the web, linksbox, but it is not very good. Bad graphics, poor support, constant crashing. Unless you want to make one yourself, your stuck...

yea linksbox is what i have for the internet, i works fine for me... gets the job done...

is there like a outlook type of program for the xbox? it would be awesome to have a "My Email" tab in XBMC

Hmm, must have been updated since I last downloaded it.

Umm, I'd just scan over xbins and see if anything floats your boat. I really don't know of any off the top of my head.

There are skins for XBMC (Project Mayhem III LE being one) that'll let you retrieve mail to XBMC. Just like you say, there's a My Mail option in the menu. You need to edit the mailretriever.py script, and define some parameters (server/UID/password).

I searched around the net and found a few pics of it... then i noticed... I have that skin! I don't quite understand though how to set it up though... Is the PMIIILE the same PMIIILE that is included in XBMC? or is there like another version? I couldn't find anywhere to download it though...

oh another question... the News ticker at the bottom of XBMC, is there a way to change to real world news? like CNN, or Reuters or something of that nature?

I could be wrong, but I am almost positive that in one of the configuation files, you can change the source. The skin may still say Xbox-Scene news, but the actual news won't be.

Look in the xml and copy the basic file structure, then customize it to your liking. Its probably the same deal as CDX, MXM, Evox.ini, and all the like.

Ok, in the skin folders there should be folders named Pal, Pal16x9, NTSC, NTSC16x9. Look in the appropriate folders for where you are, and edit the home.xml files - search in each of them for 'rss' (it's down near the bottom). Under the RSS section should be a line called 'feed' - this is the source of your news feeds for that specific skin.

aight cool... Got that working now... But how do you make your own button in the skins? I got the standard skin that came with XBMC, and I'm trying to add one button under My Programs... I looked around alittle in the PAL folder of the skins... But I don't understand half the stuff thats in there
