What happened to my xbox ethernet?

i've had my X3 up and running fine, been playing halo 2 on xbox live all the time, but suddenly today the xbox just can't connect to xbox live, and it can't even give itself an IP in the X3 Live config.. it just says "0.0.0.0 Err X" and the M$ network troubleshooter finds the cables connected, but cant resolve the ip, dns, or anything.
i'm going through a router so it could be a few different things. i tried swapping the cat5 from this computer (whichthe internet is obviously working on) to the xbox and i still get the same errors. the stock X3 switch shows a very small amount of LAN activity as it tries to connect to xbox live, but no dice.

i heard a rumor that M$ was doing ping spikes to ruin modded boxes....im sure iut's just a rumour, but it has me slightly scared.

nothing has changed on my home network to have caused this, aside from the fact that i plugged one more computer into my router today, but there were no complications and no settings changed. every other comp on the network is connected and fine, but no matter which port i use on the router, my damn HellBox won't connect..

your help would be appreciated.

thanx guys.

Hmm, if you booted a new dashboard, or reinstalled a new one, it probaly f*&ked up the setting for the IP and stuff just go into that dash and set them as they use to be/

Bypass the router and plug the xbox directly into the router then try the xbox live config again.
If that doesn't work then try calling M$ support. I called them a couple of times and they were very helpful.

If he were banned, they would let him log in and send him a message that he had a change in hardware, I've been banned once before, and he'd know it if he were.

Go into the M$ dash and where it says to log into your account, or make a new account, choose make a new account. Go as far as you can without giving out any information, it should reset and configure your IP settings. That is what I did when mine messed up.
