My son has ruined yet another one of my/ his game discs. At 60 a pop this is getting expensive. I have decided to make back-up of my discs to prevent this from happening again. I have read forums/tutorials/videos for a cpl weeks and cant decide between just replacing the entire PCB board, or just using the probe to unlock my DG16D4s drive. Not to many videos or comparisons out there on the probe. Curious as to what people who have done this for awhile think.

You should definitely get the Unlocked pcb reguardless of chip in your drive. They are super easy to flash and with having back-ups of your games it will pay for itself really fast. Make sure you also pick up an ihas burner that is rev b and some verbatims for your back-ups.

Do you need a iHas to burn or can I use my laptop dvd burner?
No iHas is only for XGD3 games any burner that burns dvd+r DL can burn XGD2. But by the way lap top slim drives suck they will soon go out on you. In the long run I would recommend you get a usb burner for your laptop to burn XGD2.

Ok, so I have all the nessasary equipment, ck3 lite, X360USB, replacement board etc. I was able to quickly and easily dump my dummy.bin as well as my key.bin for safe keeping. I replaced my board no problem. I attached it to my ck and X360 and attempt to spoof, reads no drive is found. I go through trouble shooting steps such as checking my wires, cables PCB etc. still nothing. I hook my old PCB back up and it reads perfectly. So am I missing something or did I get a bum board??
