1.4 is gonna be easier because you dont have to do a rebuild.

right behind you
no.....

the only reason mobos change between dif versions is because microshaft is trying to build the same product with cheaper materials and sell it at the same rate as the others

the 1.6 may have the cheaper hynix ram,

I would mod the 1.4 ! you will get temperature readings on the 1.4 which the 1.6 doesn't support.

1.6 has samsung ram (cheap or not idon't know or care)
You still get temperature readings on the 1.6 but the 1.4 WILL BE ACURATE the 1.6 will not
I have done A few installs on both 1.4 and 1.6 and like the rest of these guys say
the 1.4 is easier the rebuild isn't that hard but wht solder more points if you don't have to?

Go with the 1.4

If the 1.6 has a Samsung DVD drive in it (highly likely), then put the Samsung in the 1.4 and mod the 1.4 ! :)

doing that would void your warranty though... i still say 1.4- then you can use the 1.6 for xbl

Umm...he's going to void his warranty as soon as he takes the screws out to mod it...switching dvd drives won't make any difference.

If he doesn't open one xbox, he will still have warranty on it .

Who cares ? They are under $150 now. Even if the DVD drive goes bad, you can replace it with one off of Ebay. Losing the warranty is not a big deal.

You don't need to solder anything to do a softmod. All you do is load a hacked game and then FTP the necessary files to your box. You don't need to open it up at all.
