I have a Xapt3r install on a 2.6 Xec and a 1.5 box...I get 3 blue led's and a red flash from the Xapt3r when no chip is installed (been told that is right)...When the 2.6 is placed on top of the Xapt3r, I get more blue leds from the 2.6, but the red D0 does not illuminate steady (been told contrary info whether this matters)...Bottom line is this unit will only boot to the MS-Dash and does not give the cromwell bios error it should...Please help....

Double check D0 thats the only reason why it won;t boot dont be afraid to dive that D0 wire a little push into the contact.

That's correct. The only reason you are not getting a steady red LED once the modchip is installed, is because your D0 wire is not making full, steady contact with the D0 point. Keep trying, and be sure to put enough pressure on the D0 wire while inserting it into the hole.

Are you absolutely positive that you are using the correct D0 hole? On the v1.5, I made this exact mistake and it cost me an entire night. Check, check and check again (get a clear picture of where the D0 is on your motherboard).

Hope this helps -

This happened to me as well when I first tried to install my chip with Xapt3r. I took these 2 steps and it worked for me afterwards:

1) Check the D0 point to make sure it's all the way in.
2) Make sure your Xapt3r isn't plugged in too tightly as that can cause some tension.

After I tried both of those my chip started operating correctly.

Ok I am going to follow the suggestions provide and report back...But one question remains if it is my d0 point why would the red led flash momentarily when no chip is installed. This according to the following thread indicates a succesful d0 contact...So what gives?

I have triple checked my d0, tightened the xapt3r, loosened the xapt3r, I am 1005 certian I have a d0 connection...Has anyone on this site seen this or have a clue as to what might be going on...Could I have a bad 2.6 chip...How could I test that?

Can you post another picture that clearly shows the D0 connection? It still sounds to me like you might have the incorrect D0.

Ok I need to begin to eliminate items to properly troubleshoot...

1) The D0 insertion point is correct...(confirmed by Bad2bones)
2) The D0 connection is correct indicated by a quick red led when no chip is inserted (CAN ANYONE CONFIRM?)
3) The 2.6 is good based on the Blue Leds when installed on the XAPT3R (CAN ANYONE CONFIRM?)

What else can I check...Will MCM take a chip back and replace? I imagine they test before it leaves shipping right? Any help is welcome...

Here are some answers:

1) Yes - correct D0, but maybe it is not making full contact (metal to metal), did you check to make sure that there isn't anything keeping the D0 wire from making contact with the metal within the D0? I have read that some boards have residue within the D0 which requires removal. Try to find some posts on cleaning out the D0

2) Confirmed - this happened with mine, and then it worked fine once the modchip was installed.

3) No idea - I used an X3... Check the tutorials on www.xbox-scene.com for a 2.6 install. Hopefully they will have more info there.

Good luck - that's as far as I can take it. Thanks for providing the pictures!
