what modchip is this look picture help

i got the xbox from my freind came with modchip and 120.gb hard drive
the sreen rolls and its black and white will the modchip only work in older xboxs?? help thanks

Looks like a Matrix to me.

Rolling b&w screen normally means your box is configured for PAL but you've got it attached to an NTSC screen or vice versa. There is a solution for this but off the top of my head I don't recall what is required.

You should be able to identify your chip by matching it up with the pictures available at Xbox Scene. Follow the "ID your chip" link in my sig.
