Hi all. I have a friend who needs a HDD upgrade in their xbox. I have a modded box with X3 chip. I took his apart and put in a new HDD and kida assumed I could just boot into X3 config live but his chip is not the same. I have attached a photo of it...I am now guessing its an X2??? Any help appreciated, if you know what type it is and how to do a HDD upgrade with XBMC installed with this chip then let me know...
Thanks

This isn't an X2 - it looks more like a homemade chip.

Not to worry, since as long as it works you can get a boot CD (Like Slayers) and format a HDD with it. It will also allow you to FTP to the Xbox for any installs you may need.

Hey thanks man...
I figured out its an ozxchip...but that hasnt helped me to figure out how to get into its config...
Im not very experienced with this stuff, but what im trying right now is I have his hdd in my xbox, and I ftp into it and am putting all my files into the corresponding directories. What I dont know is whether this stupid chip of his is going to know what to do when I turn on the console.

This is a really old ozxchip - it's literally just an SST 49LF020 chip (256kb) on a PCB with some jumpers. It won't have a config, just enough room for a BIOS.

like I said, if you can boot backups, then get a boot disc and with it you should be able to format a new HDD, not forgetting to FTP the old drive contents over afterwards. All third party dashboards (evox, avalaunch etc) have an FTP server built in.
