My xbox won't recognize cd rw's either. Is there a bios i can get from xbins that will load backup games without all this screwing around trying to get a dashboard on the xbox? My xbox recognizes the xecuter chip, it says rocks my box but then it goes to the ms dashboard and tells me that my xbox can't recognize the disc. I have tried cdrw cdr and dvdr and none are recognized. I can't get the dashboard on a dvdr because the image in nero always automatically goes to cdr-rw and i can't change it. Please somebody help me before i freak out.

it is stock drive, the box had never been opened before. I put the 5035 bios on it, i think its a 1.4. When i put a bios on my buddy's xbox that was all i needed to do to load back up games, I son't know what the problem is with this one. The chip must be installed correctly because it goes to the xecuer2 cofig live loading, and the rox my box sign comes up under the xbox logo, but it won't recognize any discs i try to put in it. Is there a bios i can put in that will load the backup games when the chip is enabled without all this bullshit?

No all I have done is flash the 5035 bios onto my chip. I can't get the xbox to recognize any discs, because it always goes into msdash right after the rox my box screen with the x-logo above it. I have no idea how to get a dashboard on there, and i don't even want one if I can just put a different bios in and it will boot the backups. All I really want to do is be able to play backup games on it.

at what speed are yo burning the games? and how are you burning them?

Well, you see I have a whole bunch of backup games already and I know they work because they play fine on my xbox which has been modded for a couple of years already. This xbox that i just flashed with the 5035 bios won't recognize them. I am starting to wonder if this bios is no good. It seems to load though so that is what is the most confusing, i get the executer2 config live loading, i get the x logo with xecuter rox my box, and then it just goes into the ms dashboard where i can pick from music memory settings etc. No media is recognized by the drive

would that affect the disk drive? Even if I disable the chip, the disc drive still won't recognize xbox discs

Problem solved. It was a bad dvd drive all along. It works fine with a different dvd drive. Thanks to all who offered advice.
