We can start by asking what you want to do with it? That's something we need to know before recommending anything at all.

What does RGH do? Unsign code as in??? What do people usually get done to there xbox? I'm a ps3 gamer the only terms i know is jailbreak. See I got my xbox on day 1 when it hit the stores thinking i was done with ps3. But since all my friends was on ps3 i didn't wanna buy games for xbox and ps3 so my xbox ended on in the closet until now. I'm trying to make it useful again and I found this site. Also if you are wondering why i have such low dashboard it's because i never had xbox live since ps3 was free...

Will I need xbox live to play online? Is live free or do I need those 49.99 gold cards?

You don't play online with a hacked system, but yes the gold membership of $60 a year is required.

O I can't play online if my system is modded? I think I found what i'm looking for after searching the other noob post. Admin says all i would need is this bundle from xconsoles >

Includes:

  • CR4 XL
  • JR Programmer v2
  • Trinity QSB Install Kit v3
  • Trinity Double Shielded Pro CPU_RST Cable
  • X-CLAMP Unlock Tool

For $50 bux I guess it worth a try. What happens though if I mess up the soldering?? Can I undo it or am i screwed? Like once i solder the wire and I put it in the wrong slot or something?

That is a great starting point for RGH(Play Games, Emulators, Homebrew off HDD). Personally, I would want flashed firmware(Play Burnt Discs), and a demon(Dual Nand, Keep xbox Live Capabilitys), and a minimum 1 TB hdd, to hold my games for RGH, and a 320 to 500GB hdd for stock(Must be WD and flashed with correct security sector.) on top of that. And possibly a Sonus, and sonus speaker upgrade.(Custom Power/Eject/Glitch Sounds.)

It really depends on how much money you want to spend. For example in my personal Xbox, I have R-Jtag, Demon, Sonus 360 Phat, Pulsvu 2x(Sound Activated Light Mod), LT+3.0, Talismoon Whisper Fans, Ghost Case(clear). The case and the fans cost me $80 the pulsvu 2x was $20, the sonus was $35, the demon was $60, the R-Jtag Ultimate kit was $60, X360USBPro V2 and CK3 probe was $65 and the xbox was a hand me down from a friend who tried to glitch it, and burned the demon pads, then some actual nand pads. A few trace repairs later, and a pain in the ass demon alt point install, and I had a pretty sweet xbox. so total of $320 in mods/modding equipment for my xbox. and this doesnt include the 1tb, and 320 gb hdd's i bought for it.

Now I bought all this stuff like 2+ years ago, so the price has gone down on some of it, and some of this stuff is harder to find. for example, you can get the demon for $30 now from xconsoles. Hope my rant and bragging about my box helps you out.

putting the wires in the wrong spot can screw up the console yes but that is usually not the case. its going in without doing research on the mods you are installing that can cause major problems and also people that have never picked up a soldering gun in their life want to use a perfectly good 360 as their first soldering experience. my advice is take any old electronic pcb out of anything even an alarm clock (i would rather screw up an alarm clock than my 360) and practice soldering and use flux everytime you solder a wire and you need to learn about tinning wires which requires flux or rosin core solder but practice makes perfect so look up some soldering videos and techniques and study up all about the RGH/RGH2/Rjtag/jtag/ mods and how they differ as well as modding the firmware on disc drives.
DO NOT rush into this or you will be sorry..

THIS makes for some interesting reading and it is very in-depth so read ALL of it and THIS will tell you all about the reset glitch hack and how it works. when i started modding 360s I read this stuff over an over again until i could understand almost all of it and it helped me alot...

Is the 1TB hard drive just a regular hdd that goes in a pc? Also with flashed fireware can that be done with my cr4, dual nano? what do i need to do that? Money is unlimited. I wanna start with the soldering part first before adding anything else since i will probably mess up. I wanted to downgrade my ps3 but when i was looking at the video on taking apart the ps3 i figured my xbox was just easier to take apart. I tried to take ps3 controller apart because r2 button jammed and it ended in a total disaster.

soldering guns are all about the installer some people like 30-50w so they don't have to hold the heat to a point for very long before it is molten. I have a 30watt that I only use for removing caps and components that require more heat but for installs i use a 15w with a fine tip and it gets the job done great and the tips work better and last longer on my 15w I highly recommend a 15-20w soldering iron with a fine tip because as a beginner using too much heat you are liable to lift a few pads and most of the points you will be soldering are very small so the fine tip will come in handy. but if you have unlimited money then i would go out and buy the best damn bga rework station/soldering gun station you can get because I sure would love to have one but cant afford it. chip-qwick flux radio shack flux it dont matter really for this type of work just make sure your solder is rosin-core as well. it helps alot.... the cr4xl comes with all the wire you need and it is kynar like 26 gauge - 30 gauge wire

Soldering Equipment:
Tools I use Radio shack 15 watt iron, radio shack flux, .25 mm rosin core solder, desoldering braid. rubbing alcohol, qtips, Xclamp Removal Tool.

Stuff that needs Soldered:

RGH/Dual Nand tools.

J-runner(Nand RW, Sonus RW, Image Creation, coolrunner xsvf programming, etc.) http://team-xecuter.com/forums/show...-Ultimate-JTAG-RGH-App-*LATEST-DOWNLOAD-HERE*
CR4 Trinity Bundle http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php/147806-CR4-XL-SLIM-Trinity-Install-Guide-(RGH2-)
Demon(Dual Nand Device/Nand R/W device) http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php/88107-Demon-Slim-Step-by-Step-Installation-Guide
JR-Progammer v1.1(No Rater) or V2(Comes With Rater Capability) - Needed for Rater, and Sonus Programming. Not needed with demon for Nand RW.

Other:

Souns 360 trinity qsb/Sonus Speaker Upgrade kit- Custom power/eject/glitch sound http://team-xecuter.com/forums/show...l-Guide?highlight=sonus+trinity+install+guide

Dual internal HDD Mod, for use with demon(Dont have to change HDD when switching Nand. VERY usefull if using Dswitch method to switch nands.). team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php/139673-Demon-Dual-HDD-with-Automatic-Switch-(WIP)

No soldering Required.

Firmware tools
:

X360USBpro - USB Sata Controller specifically made for flashing xbox drives. Also good for flashing SS.bin to retail HDDs.
CK3 - DVD power adapter
JungleFlasher -Software for Flashing DVD drive

For this you need to know the drive type, and follow jungle flasher PDF. If the drive requires Kamikazi hack, I strongly recommend LTU2 install. If you cant find a LTU2 board, as they are getting harder to find, get a Phat liteon drive, and take the parts out of it, laser, motors, PCB, and put it in your slim drive case, then flash it with your new LTU2 firmware. This is a viable option with all slim drives, including hitachi drives.

Xecuter X360USBpro HDDHACKER is an app for programming SS.bin file to WD hdd for retail. RGH does not require this, and the biggest retail hdd supported by Xbox360 is 500GB.

I have included install guides for every thing, and the tools I use when I do installs, and what I would put into a trinity if I had an unlimited budget. I would also look into custom cases, and lighting mods. Have fun, and please practice your soldering on something cheap, like a cheap radio shack soldering kit, or a clock radio, or an old computer motherboard, until you are comfortable with the soldering, or better yet pay one of the installers in the request for service section, where you can save your self some money, and make sure you get a professional job done.

now gavin you know if somebody told you to send your console to a pro when you first tried to mod one you would have said "pssshhhhhht, ill figure it out eventually...." I know i did. I screwed up a few times but i got it in the end and never had to ask anybody for help on here. I read a lot on these forums before I got it right but i didn't have to create a thread and ask for help.. Hell I was so afraid Martin C would be the one to answer and I don't know about you but I like my head right where it's at and don't want it bitten off... lmao he's a fart smeller, I mean a smart feller but it didn't take long for me to figure out why they call it the noob room so i searched and googled until I found the answer that i trusted and just kept trying.

I had my fair share of mishaps when I first started modding consoles, for example my original xbox took a bad TSOP flash, and the 28 wire modchip I was installing to fix it kept moving an ripping up the pads, as I didnt think to tape it down, because the chip had solder points on all sides, and the first wii I modded I lost the original bootmii dumps, and when It came back to me bricked from someone messing with wad manager, and not knowing what they were doing, and was unable to recover it. So yes I have made mistakes, and I have learned how to fix them for the most part. That being said, it would be cheaper to get a professional to install the parts, and flash the drive, as most installers already have the X360USBPro, and JR-Programmer, which a 1 time installer is only going to use 1 time. and in my previous post, I gave out all the options for the console, with a list of tools for the install, and all the guides, with an exception for the drive flashing, as I dont know what model drive is in the console. I did give basic 16d2s LTU2 instructions though. And as an installer, I wont attempt the Kamikazi hack, as most of the people I know who have tried it either failed miserably, or had issues with it sometime in the future. Having bought most of the xecuter products for the 360, from the CR rev C to the CR3-PRO/R-Jtag. and the X360USBpro v2 and Nand-X and JR-Programmer V2, I know for a fact if I didnt have the occasional customer who needs an install done it would have been a complete waist of money, as I would have only used the device 1 time.

I am in a similar situation to the OP, and want to do something similar to what Gavin suggests here.

I just purchased a used Trinity 250 GB and want to mod it. My primary goals in modding are to be able to:
-
  • rip games to HDD and play them without the game disk in the DVD drive
  • add a large number of games without being constrained by space
  • retain the ability to use xbox live without fear of being banned
To do this I am looking at adding:

  • CR4 XL
  • DemoN
For the hard drive, it doesn't seem cost effective to upgrade the existing drive to share it between the two NANDs. The maximum supported size would be 500 GB, which doesn't seem worth the cost for upgrading from 250 GB. Instead, I was thinking of adding a new 1 TB (or more) HDD and dedicating it for the RGH NAND. I would leave the 250 GB drive in place for use by the stock NAND.

However, I am confused about what option is best for installing the new HDD.
  1. I could use an external hard drive, but this would mean switching another device on and off.
  2. There are several forum posts regarding approaches for switching a dual hard drive or for making an additional hard drive appear as "internal". However, most of these posts are from 2012, and all appear to pre-date the DemoN. Is there a way to use the DemoN to swap the HDD when the NAND is switched?
  3. There is also a way to attach an additional drive as an "internal memory unit" on a Trinity box, but it appears that this may be disabled for the 250GB version.
Ideally the HDD installation would:

  • Dedicate the different HDDs to the different NANDs. The existing HDD would be used by the stock NAND. The new HDD would appear as the only internal drive to the RGH NAND but not be visible when the stock NAND was in use.
  • HDD switching would be performed automatically by switching the NAND on the DemoN, without the need for another physical switch on the case to select the HDD to use.
This is the ideal, but if it is difficult or expensive, I could compromise. However, if I need an additional power cord and an additional switch, I might as well just use an external hard drive.

How do others like Gavin have their separate RGH HDD installed?

Knowing you had problems taking apart a controller might make you reconsider trying a hack, and just send it to a pro...however if money is unlimited and you want to learn then just do a lot of reading on here, and then read some more. One you have read enough to know what to do, read some more.
