ok - this is your internet connection. It is NOT connected to your Xbox.Hank74 said:its 213.xxx.xxx.xxx (edited by Martin C)
This is unusual, the main PC on the network or router is normally;Hank74 said:My settings in Xbox: ip 196.168.0.1 and the same in in qwix and pass:xbox login:xbox port:21

I think he only has the one network card, so he'd have to do what you've suggested and reconfigure the IP address each time.paul_phil said:This is unusual, the main PC on the network or router is normally;
192.168.0.1
the clients are
192.168.0.2 - 192.168.0.254
each client should have the gateway set to 192.168.0.1
everyone should be on the same subnet, 255.255.255.0 is standard
You should either have another network card in the PC for the Xbox or a router. A router is easier, a lot easier!
You can set it up with just one Network card in your PC but I wouldn't recommend it unless you're very familiar with setting up networks! You'd need to re-initialise the IP address of the card every time you switch between the internet and the xbox and have to manually set the IP address each time for the xbox setup.
That's generous of you!!PFIDR34 said:Just go buy a router
Have you just got the one Network card?Hank74 said:that would be kind of him![]()
could it be that im using wrong networkcable, i dont know what they are called in english,
but im using the one i have to connect the internet. Should it be the kind of cable that is used to link two cpu:s with ?
Yes, you have been using the wrong type of network cable.Hank74 said:that would be kind of him![]()

paul_phil - your edit is correct. A standard broadband modem would use a crossover cable, so this should be ok to use for the Xbox.paul_phil said:Yes, you have been using the wrong type of network cable.
The one for your internet is a standard patch cable pin 1-1, 2-2, 3-3 etc.
You need a cross-over cable where the data in is connected to the data out at the other end, and visa versa.
Edit: Just a thought, what type of internet connection do you have? When I didn't have a router I connected to my cable modem via USB (instead of network) and then dedicated the spare network port for my Xbox.
