Hi all, Iv'e done this install on a phat when it first came out but never done it on a slim and my mate wants it doing. Here are the pics from his console Could you identity if it is a Trinity or a corona? Checked the identify chart but confused. And also what chips will i need? e.g.

12v 9.6A (bit dark the picture)

Which coolrunner?
Demon for Slim
What additional QCB boards?

And a side note, what is the best soldering iron for this install manufacture wise and wattage wise?

Thanks

Read MartinC RGH Roadmap for noobies.

Ill tell you this. It's a Corona. If it has 4gig internal memory you can't Demon it.

Thanks well got console apart and from what i can see and from what i read on the guide you kindly supplied me i think its a Corona V3. But would like you guys to double check for me. If it is i beleive its still glitchable and able to use demon? I did come with a 250gb hdd too so seems to look like the V3.

Feel free to save the photos and zoom in for a better look, you can see it better zoomed in.

Thanks

It's hard to tell from the pics but I'm thinking its a V1 if not then its a V3. You can definitely add a demon to it.

Tapatalk misspelled it. Knot me.

As Krafter said it is definitely Demon-Able. Is Post Out Missing? Pictures of the differences are in the Motherboard Revision Thread. I will find it and edit my post.

corona_no_post.png

You must take the X-Clamp off and remove the Heatsink to be able to tell. You might be able to shine a light under the Heatsink from the DVD Drive side. Towards the front on the console you will be able to see if these traces are there or not.

If the traces are there, It is a Corona V1.

If there is no traces for the Post_Out it is a Corona V3.

If it is a V3, Everything is still good to go, You just need a Post-Fix Adapter and a different type of CR3 Pro (Fake Post) if you want the most reliable chip.

Once you find out the correct Motherboard Revision, You can follow the correct guide and you are good to go.

It is close to being a V3 Corona, Manufacture Date Wise. I have a Corona V3 that is just a month younger than yours. But you have to see if the Post-Out is there or not to be sure.

Thanks please do and all bits i need as looking through some Team xecuter guides for demon and glitching these consoles their are loads of chips to consider when hacking. 4gb ds card r/w chips chips that go around the cpu chips that sit near the x clamp. As you will understand i dont want to start ordering parts until i know exactly what i need and what i dont. But yeah if you can get back with if its V1 or V3 and what ill need that would be amazing. But again looking at the motherboard i would say its more v3 and i think the manufacture date may back it up being built in August 2012

As I Stated Previously, You must lift the Heatsink to know for sure. If it has those traces I posted in the picture above, It is a V1.

If not it is a V3. After you know that you know what you need to order.

The only difference is 15 Dollars added for a V3 (Post Fix Adapter) That isn't need for a V3.

Also a different Cr3 Pro Version. Fake Post/ Or Full Post.

You could always go Cr3 Rev C Mega Bundle too if you don't want to get a JR-Programmer.

You can Read/Write the Nand with a Demon.

Things We Know You Need Already:
1. Demon. It can Read/Write the Nand to your 360 so you wouldn't need a JR-Programmer/Nand-X.
2. Glitch Chip.

Best one you can buy being the CR3 Pro. But we need to know if it is a V1/V3 Corona because there is two different types. With the CR3 Pro, to tune it too a "Perfecto" Boot, You need a JR-Programmer so you can use the Rater Feature in J-Runner correctly.

If you don't want to spend the extra money for a JR-Programmer, then get the Rev C Mega Bundle. It will work fine with either the V1/V3.

Things you might need: (Depending on Console Revision)
Post Fix Adapter. (Corona V3)

So we must know your Revision to give you correct information. You could always post this for a Requested Service and get somebody else to do it for you. I could get this straightened out for you if you are in the USA.

Yes.. Just as long as you see there is no traces like in the picture I posted above to be sure.

You need:
Demon
CR Rev C Mega Bundle Or CR3 Pro Fake Post Ultimate Kit (Unless you have a JR-Programmer) then get CR3 Pro Fake Post Stater Kit.
Post Out Fix Adapter.

That's all.

Easier to just check post_out and GND for continuity than removing the heatsink.

Yeah I know but I figured you can't be wrong by seeing it for sure. I didn't want to chance it if the OP didn't have a Multimeter. Seems like a rare commodity nowadays.

OP Yes, that kit would do you wonders. You just need a Demon after that. It comes with the Corona QSB already. That will be everything you need. Just Slim Demon Kit and the CR3 Pro Kit you posted.

Thanks for everyones help, before ordering kits i need to know the following:

1. I will do that post out and ground test but what point do i probe for the post out to see if their is continuity? and ground is just ground.

2. Is their a good tutorial on here for just installing the cr3 pro and demon on a v3 corona console that i can follow pref with pictures?

3. Would it be advised to read and dump the nand files prior to installing the kit with the j runner programmer? or can i just go ahead install everything and read the nand after? just thinking if their is an issue with nand image i can keep kit uninstalled.

Thanks

Post Out Point 1.

Read any of the RGH Tutorials. It will explain. There probably isn't a tutorial for just a V3 console. People make them for all consoles if you need to do something differently for your specific console it will state it.

I typically install Demon First then get Nand Dump and then Install CR3.

Since you are using the CR3 Pro Ultimate Kit, I would Install the JR-Programmer Corona QSB V3 that comes with the kit in the correct place and use the JR-Programmer before installing anything else. Unless you are very comfortable with your soldering. Go ahead and do the Demon and then read nand. The Demon is really for Professionals only. It states it on a card in the box. Regardless, The Demon and the JR-Programmer have to be installed so it doesn't matter which ones first. Just pick which you think would be best.

Demon doesn't read Nand's via SPI so it reads and writes fastest.

Good luck with your install. Read the Coolrunner Installation Guides for Information. J-Runner has pictures of everything you need as well.

The fake post version will work on any carona. Probably your safest bet as far as chips go, if you arent sure what version the carona is.
