Lite on 83850c MRA hack please help.

Hi

i am having some problems extracting the keys for a 83850c, i have tried Lo83info and tried the tray half open and then full open but it just keeps giving me extraction failed. Do i need to solder anything here, i do have the ck3 probe2 and have flashed a few drives before, i think this drive has been flashed before, i am really stuck here though can someone help?
Thank's

If the drive has been previously flashed with wil ixtreme LT or LT1.1, then you will need to perform the MRA Hack. There are plenty of tutorials on how to do this on this site. Or simply use google.

Re: Lite on 83850c key extraction problems

i have a ck3 probe 2, i cant seem to find anything that's clear enough, any good tutorials for this on the 83850c, i cant get intro device id to work either. i have been given some keys from prev extraction of ix 1.6 but when i try manually it just seems to be too long. Any more help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Lite on 83850c key extraction problems

i have tried the mra hack, the mra light on the ck3 probe 2 only comes on when 20 setting on the probe is on. this is when conected to the pcb, I try to switch to mra mode and when i do this it comes up no drive detected. On normal mode it recognises ok.

Do i need to try anything else like drive half open for the intro device id? really seems like im missing something here.

I have done all the cuts and bridged a connection.

This is definatly the most probelmatic drive i have done.

status 0x51 :?:

Re: Lite on 83850c key extraction problems

0x51 means your cuts are not correctly done

make sure there is no connections on the two cuts

Re: Lite on 83850c key extraction problems

The thing is im sure they are, on 20 setting when mra is lit it gives me status 0x52.

if this drive wasn't prev flashed would it of been easy?

Re: Lite on 83850c key extraction problems

the drives act exactly the same regardless of being flashed or not

0x52 means use a lower resistor setting

Re: Lite on 83850c key extraction problems

on the lower setting i won't get the mra light when probe 2 switch is pressed down. ( when probe is connected to pcb )

Thank's for your help by the way

Re: Lite on 83850c key extraction problems

could the by passed wire have anything to do with it? the wire have to be a cirtain type?

i have done 3 cuts in all following the tutorial.

is it only the 8 and 9 series that require mra hack?

Thank's

Re: Lite on 83850c key extraction problems

Maybe you should take pictures and post them here, people might be able to help you better..

also, you can do the MRA hack on any lite-on drive, including the 7 series. You only really need to do it if it's a stock 8v2/9 drive, or if the drive is flashed with LT.

Re: Lite on 83850c key extraction problems

I would rather keep away from MRA hacks from now on, is there a way of knowing which drive has a 8v2 9 stock?

I have just spotted this device http://www.ck3.co.uk/xecuter-lt-clip-and-lt-switch-v2-no-solder.html will this help me for the MRA hack? what does this do exactly does it replace the ck3 pro? and will i still need to do trace cuts using this.

Thank's

jungleflasher will tell you when you press lo83, but other than that, you can only speculate with manufacture date

Re: Lite on 83850c MRA hack please help.

this will allow you to MRA hack without use of any other equipment

you will still need to cut traces

Re: Lite on 83850c MRA hack please help.

I have been trying to hack my drive. I have applied the MRA hack. As best as I can tell, wires have been cut and solder has been added as needed. I open jungle flasher (as administrator with driver signature check off) and then go to MTK Flash 32. I set the switch to 3.3 v (off). I then turn power on to the console (I have power to the drive delivered by the console). The drive turns on. Jungle Flash detects my drive without problem. I then turn the switch on the drive to on (connected to resistor). I then press Intro/Device ID. It gives me status of 0xD0. It tells me that Vendor intro failed. I click yes. I then turn the switch to off (connected to 3.3v). The drive does not seem to respond. Vendor intro fails. Am I fallowing the procedure wrong?
