When creating Emunand... is the microSD erased or formatted?

Hi!

I've the NS with OFW 7.1.0. and SX OS 2.6.1. I don't have Emunand. In order to use the latest backups that need FW 8.0.1., I'm thinking of creating Emunand and upgrading to FW 8.0.1 with ChoiDujourNX. I've some backups installed on the NS (internal memory) and also several XCI -not installed- on the microSD.

My question is, If I create Emunand, leaving 15GB of free space on the microSD and then updating the FW, will I lose everything I have on the microSD or in the console?. Is the microSD formmated?

Thanks and greetings!

You need 32GB for emunand and if you're choosing to do a hidden partition emunand then yes, your sd card will be formatted to create the partition.

Just backup your sd card contents onto your pc, create the emunand partition and put all your files back onto your sd card after.

Thanks, RSJon.

So, If I leave 32GB free and install "Emunand on microSD as files", backups installed in the console's internal memory and the others on the microSD card are then kept intact and can be used in Emunand?

You'd have to backup all files on the SD card, the internal memory would remain the same.

Simply create the emunand and then move the files that you backed up to the remaining partition on the SD. If you wish to have the games on emunand simply change the name of the Nintendo folder
