I am a total Noob and this is the first time i have posted after reading endless posts by others. I have an xecuter3CE installed on my 1.6b box...at first i could only get a blank blue screen when i booted(with on on off off off)so i tried off on off off off, banks 5-8. and i got the screen that gave me 5 choices for flashing (and it said 3.0.3 at the top)...i tried cds with the flash bios 3.0.3 on them...nothing worked so i finally got the flash to load on banks 5-8 via FTP...success?....NO...at this point i was able to get banks 1-4 flash bios screen up which had 3.0.1 on it! now i get both but still no joy.....I can't get the famous "xecuter rox my box" to come up...just the blue screen with the choices for flashing, and it now will not boot in normal mode to the regular M$ screen, it just says i need to service the unit! PS i have also soldered and resoldered and resoldered the contacts on the board. What do i do to make this thing work?....:( Also...do i have to go back to the chip after i flash the bios to flick the protect switch to "protect"? Any suggestions would be so welcome at this point.

Well, since you have a 1.6b that means you've just flashed over all four copies of FlashBIOS 3.0.3 on your box. And the 3.0.1 versions on banks 1-4 and the backup likely will not work for you. So you've pretty much painted yourself into a corner.

You will need to either get a second chip or a 2nd modded box to do a hotswap flash.

Search hot swap. You will probably need to ftp the x3 bios onto his c drive and flash from there.

Is what you are telling me to do the same as what i did originally?....I flashed the bios orig from my friends computer via ftp, because it would not flash from disc drive.
And did I start getting the M$ "unit needs to be serviced" warning in reg mode because i flashed over Xbox's original bios?

Thank you everyone who has posted a reply to my question!! I have it going now. As it turns out i was just flashing the bios incorrectly. I found a post after 7 hours of reading that explained the process very clearly. As it turns out, if you are flashing a 1.6b box with a xecuter3ce chip, you have to boot to the second 1mb bank of the bios(off, on, off, off) and WHILE THERE,without turning off the xbox, you position the switches to the 1st 1mb bank of the bios(on, on, off, off)....THEN you flash it. And voila!! instant success! Now if i could only figure out how to flash the backup too....then i'd really be in the groove!...LOL...ahh well! can't have everything i guess.

P.S. This site ROCKS! I am SOOOO impressed with the professionalism of those who have posted..(no razing for asking stupid questions) Thanx for a good experience!

to flash the backup in the x3 config bios screen theres a option that will flash your backup just put the flashbios 3.0.3 on to your xbox H/D in a folder call the folder "bios" do not rename flashbios then do the flash by H/D and you should have a working backup bank theres a x3 guide below

Well, i read that going as big as 500gb was not a good idea so i was curious if that was right.
Also, can it be SATA ? and how big should the partitions be, again I read that it should not exceed 137gb. Is that right?
