what i want to do is ftp a game to my hd before i update to a larger one

If you are using the original MS dash you will not be able to launch a game from your harddrive. You need to install another dash like Evox or Avalaunch.

If your using a dashboard... like avalaunch, or evox/UnleashX... just go into the games folder. Upload the files to e:\Games, then restart the xbox... and the game should be under "games" from the dashboard.
