Where to Start?

So I found this place in my attempt to fix my old ass 360. It was modded years ago and occasionally I would pop a game in and play with no issues. Well, got a wild hair and went out and bought GTA5, now I'm in the infamous update loop. I have no clue what I'm doing with this thing to be honest.

Thankfully, I'm not a computer noob, just a 360 noob, lol.

So I'm looking for some guidance on getting this thing fixed. I do have numerous backups I'd like to keep playing as well.

So what do I need? I'm on a Mac, can I use this? I have a laptop on Linux as well if the Mac can't be used. I do not have any Windows machines though. I know there's a cable I need and some software, hoping you can run it on a Mac or on Linux.

I have little info on the 360 other than it's an early one. I can't even turn it on now to get any specs out of it, just gets stuck at the updated screen, then the error to contact support. Here is the error code: 3080-3F4A-B800-C000-0001

I have tried the USB update but it does the exact same thing every time. Even tried with the hard drive off of it. The controller just flashed when you turn the xbox on now as well.

Looking for some help, thanks for any you can offer.

According to the error code u need the update 16202 update. So download 16202 $systemupdate and place it on a fat32 formatted USB storage device and connect to the xbox and see if it updates. If it still doesn't update then u may have old firmware on your DVD drive or u have a spoofed drive or both.

I'm a little confused on where the update file on the system is now. I took the disc out and I tried the latest update from xbox earlier with the USB without success. I even took the hard drive off the top of the console and it wouldn't update. Is this because it started a certain update and I tried with a newer update?

Can any of this flashing be done without a PC with Windows?

Anyone in SW Ohio do this. Not even sure I want to get into it. I have enough computer stuff in my life with work, lol.

I have no clue on the DVD drive being replace. Bought it as a whole unit from a guy that moved out of state. Had to take it to him a couple years ago for an update to run Forza 3, but now he's gone.

Jligg, what parts of Cincinnati you in? North? South? I'm north of Dayton. When could you do it? I'd like to get it done ASAP. Might have a guy that can do it today but I'm not sure yet. Could you do it while I'm down there?

Had 1 like this. Had to flash drive back to stock then update the dash then re-flash with LT3.0

It's a Hitachi. Had guy try and flash it to find out it was spoofed as a Benq. So he flashed it to stock Benq and still won't take the update. Not the disc or the USB method. Said only thing he can think of is putting an actual Benq in it as that was it thought it had. Anyone had anything like this happen? Will something like that work?

If it has a Hitachi drive and it is spoofed as a benq then u will need a benq drive to update the xbox. As spoofed drives are not supported anymore.
