i heard about modchips when i was in the 6th grade...lol they were for playstation, ahhh the good ole days. i acutally got into xbox case-modding first, then moved to hardware modding. been doin it for bout 6 onths now :)

Seriously…. It was sometime just after I bought my first Xbox on release night. At some point in 2002 I heard rumors and reports of hacking the Xbox. I investigated and started reading many sites. Then I heard of the first few who had started making chips, including Team Xecuter. Shortly after that I purchased an Xecuter chip. At that time I was the Admin of a very large Beta/Tech site and I didn’t have the time to fully delve into the Xbox scene.

Lets see 1996, in math class. I was 16. Some guy said he saoldered a chip to his Playstation to play copied games. I thought he was blowing smoke up my ass so I decided to look it up. What do you know he wasn't. I bought one online like a year later. I still have it too. Anyone else have a modded original Playstation. As for the Xbox somewhere around 2002.

I was watching the X-Box mod scene for a year or two, then the X3 specs came out. The rest is history. We will be answering the same question in 2 years or so about the Xbox2 ;-)

I had my first modchip... back in the day of NES

J/k of course...

I remember... Going to K-mart when Playstations first came out... And they had one 90% Off because they were closing out, and it was returned due to non working. Figured hey... Thats not a lot of money even if it doesn't.... opened it up, and someone unplugged a wire.... On my way home... I seen they had modchips out for them already... Was shocked :) Never bought one tho... Went with one of the external boot CD options -_-

I was at home... following the Xbox scene when I found out about xbox modchips.... then... a year/two years later, I decided... hey, might as well... and plunged and bought one and an xbox:)

A good friend at work was telling me that his friend was going to do his. So I jumped on and we both bought Chameleons. Did one other friends then got my X3, done 6 X3 boxes for friends since then.

It's all about passing the word. Once any Stock Xbox owner hears, its an addiction (at least for me)

I was just browsing around the internet when I decided to do a little bit of reading on what people were saying about the xbox and that's when I stumbled on to websites that told how you could chip it. All people mentioned at the time was the X2 and that's when I bought the modchip and the xbox online. The xbox came first and then the modchip a day later. Just recently upgraded to the X3 and it's definitely one of the best toys I could have bought.

i had the flew for a week in like 6th or 7th grade, i was into pc sh*t at that time and just reading what i could. I stumbled into techtv's website where they were showing how to keep you pc cool and how to put dampeners and heatsinks.

In the related articles or whatever i saw something about the darkside, xbox mods i think it was called. I thought, hey i like xbox, ima check this out. I did and saw how to add another hdd and they were using like a solderless xecuter 1 (green pcb), and had evox showing so i got into it right there.

Found my way to www.ratemyxbox.com which is where i got started. Then someone told me about xbox-scene.com so i checked that place an hung out there alot and then i later found xecuters website and logged onto the forums here which is where i've been for the past year or so i guess.

Summer of 2003, I was at this camp in Massachusetts, and these two cousins who were there told me about how they had installed a modchip in there xbox. They didn't mention much more other than that you used a bios called evox and some sort of application called evolutionx.

I got home from camp and was a bit nervous about soldering so I went online, and found the best chips to be from TeamXecuter. I therefore got the X2.2 Lite Plus.

I didn't know how to use IRC, so I used bittorrent and emule to find a bios (I learned that the best was the Xecuter bios). I got the bios flashed, but for some reason I couldn't figure out how to get the EvoX disks that I burned to boot. This was because I wasn't reading tuts and stuff. I got frustrated and left the modchip alone, deciding it wasn't worth the time.

Anyway, I decided to try again this past August (2004). I read some tutorials, learned how to use IRC and burned a succesful evoX on my first try. After that, all the software stuff became amazingly easy.

I quickly heard about a new chip coming out soon called the Xecuter 3 :). I learned how to solder, preordered one, and since succesfully soldering one in, I have modded the xboxes of a bunch of my friends... And the rest is history!

I had heard of them for the original playstation but it was not until I saw a week long segment on TechTV (The ScreenSavers) about mod chips in an Xbox about 2 years ago that I was really interested. The media play caught my attention

i wish I got TechTV, stupid cable TV. Too bad I don't have digital cable. Anyhow, didn't they get rid of tech tv or something? change it's name maby? Last time I watched TV at my friends house, I couldn't find tech tv on his satellite (direct tv) for some reason.

i knew about them (and had them installed) from the days of PS, but i actually started to mod myself about 6 months ago when i heard about evox (i had a modded xbox back then) and did some googling that led me to x3, and soon found out that the guy that modded my box actually ****ED ME UP, the SOB installed a matrix for more than 100 $, and he also installs evox (with really BAD confiuration too!!) for more than 50$. but now (and after some xbox education ;) ) the guy is begging me to do anything with his xboxs. thats what pushed me to extreme modding
