Summer of 2003, I was at this camp in Massachusetts, and these two cousins who were there told me about how they had installed a modchip in there xbox. They didn't mention much more other than that you used a bios called evox and some sort of application called evolutionx.
I got home from camp and was a bit nervous about soldering so I went online, and found the best chips to be from TeamXecuter. I therefore got the X2.2 Lite Plus.
I didn't know how to use IRC, so I used bittorrent and emule to find a bios (I learned that the best was the Xecuter bios). I got the bios flashed, but for some reason I couldn't figure out how to get the EvoX disks that I burned to boot. This was because I wasn't reading tuts and stuff. I got frustrated and left the modchip alone, deciding it wasn't worth the time.
Anyway, I decided to try again this past August (2004). I read some tutorials, learned how to use IRC and burned a succesful evoX on my first try. After that, all the software stuff became amazingly easy.
I quickly heard about a new chip coming out soon called the Xecuter 3

. I learned how to solder, preordered one, and since succesfully soldering one in, I have modded the xboxes of a bunch of my friends... And the rest is history!
