As said in another thread I am getting an error code 07 75% of the times i turn on my xbox. checked everyhting i was recommended and i concluded that its the driver causing the problem. Its a Samsung SP1203N 120GB hard disk. Can anyone confirm that he has this drive and working 100% with the xbox? With the stock hdd there is no problem at all.

Which drive at 120GB you reccomend which has been tested to work OK with the xecuter 3 chip?

P.S. I have an xbox v1.4 moded with the Xecuter 3 chip.

thanks for the link

hmmm it seems that a Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 120GB 6Y120PO hard drive should be able to do the job without a problem. Lost of people are listed to have it and it works.

Eeven though i have read the respective thread i still dont understand what hdd lock does and why its needed.

The hard drive is locked mainly as a security measure. It must be locked though to boot to the MS dash or get onto Xbox Live

I like the Seagate 120GB 7200RPM 8MB Cache (model: SP1213N)
I am using this in my modded box.

Not too many people use it. I use this drive in most computer systems I build. It is fast, Quiet, and doesnt build up much heat. It gets warm with usage but unlike some Maxtor and Western Digital drives, it doesnt get burning hot!

Hey,
I use the Samsung 120g model #SV1204H, 5400 rpm. No cache you don't need it, it's a waste of money.
This is the only hard drive I ever use in the xbox and it works great.

Right now you can probably find a Western Digital Caviar SE 160Gb for around $80-100 after rebate from Manufacturer It is a 7200rpm drive that has a built in 8MB buffer to help boost transfer speeds they are what I use for all installs. the easiest way to do it is to use a crossover cable connected to your pc or connect to a router on a network. Also use an ATA 133 cable when you do the swap swap. First back up all partitions from original drive to a pc (you may want them later ESPECIALLY if you want to use xbox live) swap in the new drive and partition and lock it from X3 bios Enable F and G drives when prompted. Now FTP all original HDD contents back to their correct partitions. ONLY STORE THINGS IN C:, F:, or G: drives this may help somewhat with Xbox live issues based on my experience. Although the ban can now be defeated.

P.S. boost your fan speed and if you still have heat issues with the drive (I don't and neither do any of my friends(5 of them)) then flip the HDD upside down in the an secure it with a small piece of double sided tape.
