Which bios? Ack!

Ok, to start off, I'm a complete newb here. I just want to make sure I'm not going to fry my only chip.

I've got it all set up. A Xecuter3CE in a v1.6(b?) and it booted just fine (all switches off). I first tried to flash the bios through HTTP with the file "X3 3294.bin". It seemed to go well, it turned itself off, but when I turned it on, it shut itself back off. Then on. Then back off. I try booting it with the chip off, holding down the power button. It then tells me that my system needs servicing.

I had thought I had already blew it. Then I tried booting with Bank 5678. Phew.

Before I do anything else. I want to know EXACTLY what I should, or shouldn't, do before I screw anything else up. Could I also still flash to Bank 1234 after booting Bank 5678?

1.6 you say? X3 3294.bin is the wrong bios then. Thats for Version 1.0 -1.5
You booted up on 5678. Yup. You got it. Switch back to 1234 for flashing with
X3 3294 v16plus.bin for Xbox Version 1.6.

Does your backup bios work btw? Power+eject.
Is that a 1.6 or 1.6b?

ok boot up chip in switch setting off on off off off (flashbios 3.0.3)
then with out rebooting xbox change you switch to on on off off off then flash your chip with x3 3294 v16 plus bios
once you have done that and it works (boots into x3 config ) disable Autostart X3 Live

you can do this before or after you install dash on your pc make a folder call it "bios" but flashbios 3.0.3 into bios folder then ftp it to your xbox c:/ folder
now go back into x3 config (hold white button on controller booting up of xbox)
goto to bios tool and flash backup

this way you will allways have a backup that works

Sorry for the wait, but I got everything working by booting the second bank and flashing the first, and everything has been working most awesomely now. The backup bios works as well. So far, everything does. I've just bought a Maxtor L01R300 300GB hard drive (for $90, too!), and I'm checking around to see that I'm doing everything right the first time through as well. Thanks for your help! The both of ya!

BTW, the X3 tells me that it's only a v1.6. Would it know the difference between the 1.6 and 1.6b?

with a 300G h/d do the setting in x3 bios set to LBA48= F gets 137g and G gets the rest
