if you have a V1.6b box then you need the 1959. it has the fixes in it. other wise you could use the 1957 but it is still an older version than 1959.

Very confused, please help!

Okay, this is a somewhat complicated situation so I'll try to involve any details I can. A couple years ago I flashed my 360 drive (this was when the current version was iXtreme 1.4). I used my motherboard's SATA port with iPrep and it worked just fine. Last winter, I was updating to 1.5 and somewhere in the process i got the RROD. I really haven't done anything with it since, till I got bored over this winter break and wanted to fix it.

I wasn't sure if I bricked the dvd drive or not, so I went and purchased another off ebay. Maybe the firmware on the original is just messed up, but I do have both of them.

My original was a Samsung MS25, part number X800473-016
The new one is an MS25, part Number X800473-015.

I was trying to restore the original firmware onto the new drive just to see if it was my old drive that was messed up, and then I was going to put iXtreme 1.61 on it. I downloaded iPrep 101 v006.2 and the updated definitions from this site. It made the bootable USB fine (I'm using a 256MB sandisk cruzer micro), and in the backup folder I made a folder within a folder with my serial number and put the original firmware in there. I booted from the USB following textbook's instructions, and I tried to do rSam to restore the original, and it tells me to turn off the drive and choose which port it is. Well I have 2 SATA banks each with 2 ports. One bank has 2 cables and the other has 1. When it's plugged into the upper bank with 1 cable, it gives me the options of IDE Sec Master and IDE Sec Slave, neither of which worked (it would just sit there saying "Port: 170, Master/Slave: a0 or b0" and would not start flashing, and I had to abort with Esc). Either of the cables on the other bank read no drives at all.

My motherboard is a Gigaware GA-P35-DS3L, which, as I said, has successfully flashed the drive before.

iPrep gives me these options for controllers
SCSI: ATJJMSEE IDE Controller (tried this first and had the above result)
IDE:
1) Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller
2) Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller
3) ATA Channel 0 (tried this second and had the same result)
4) ATA Channel 1
5) ATA Channel 0
6) ATA Channel 1
7) ATA Channel 0
8) ATA Channel 1
9) Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller

I don't know why it gave so many repeated options under IDE.

If anyone has any ideas why this is happening, please let me know! Thank you in advance!
