Which dashboard should I be using?

Hello,
My Jasper console is RGH and is running 2.0.15574.0 dashboard. I ripped Murdered: Soul Suspect and when I go to play it from my hard drive it kicks me back to the dash and says there is an error and to try re-downloading the game. When I try to play from the disc it tells me to try cleaning the disc before playing. This disc looks like it is in great condition and plays on my non-rgh console.

From what I've read I need to update the dashboard the play newer games.

What dashboard version do you recommend? Any suggestions on the best tutorial to use to update?

Thanks for any help!

16747 is latest xebuild dash version for now.but this would suffice to get your game going.do you have your orig nand dumps? if you do that would make this alot easier on ya.

Yes I have my original nand dumps and cpu key. I've updated the dash once to get kinect and avatars working, but that was a year or so ago. Which is the best way to go about updating?

grab jrunner app online, use google as i dont got links handy, and use ur orig nand dumps and cpu key to build a new img.everything you need is included in pdf with jrunner. :) if you get stuck come back.orig nand should tell ya which to use,rgh1 or 2

Get J-Runner, and use the xebuild update feature. it will dump the nand, and update everything over the network. read page 27(I believe) of the j-runner pdf. this requires dashlaunch installer 3.08 or higher with updsrv enabled.

Thank you for the help so far. I downloaded J-runner app from this thead: http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=82434 but I'm not having any luck finding the pdf to go with it.

The app downloaded everything in the black box. I clicked "Load Source" and selected my original nand dump. It auto put in my cpu key in the box. On the right under XeBuild it also selected RGH and Jasper 16mb. I picked 16747 for the dash on the drop down. Then I clicked "Create XeBuild Image" and it saved a folder with updflash.bin in it.

Am I on the right track?

Thanks, looking over it now as well as the pdf. Looks like trying to update over a lan connection is the easiest way to not mess anything up.

yep, Easiest and safest. This is the method everybody shud be using to update their rgh dash.
I couldn't agree more with this!

Every type of mod carries a risk, but the XeBuild Update feature works great and it does everything for you.

All you need to do is enable UPDSERV (XeBuild's Update Server) on your console and click one button in J-Runner (you can enable patches and change XeBuild options if you need to, but these are advanced features which should be used with caution).

Most users won't need any of the advanced features, so don't enable them unless you know what they do.

The only advanced feature I ever use is the one for demon uart speeds. :) Other than that, not much else is useful. It would be nice if they added an option to remove xell, as I hardly ever use it, and when I do, I launch it with xell launch.

Thank you so much for this. I clicked "Get Latest SystemUpdate" and it's downloading SystemUpdate_16756_USB.zip. Will I have to update to 16756 or should I stick with 16747 which I originally was going for? Do I need to make sure to download the 16747 dash separately?

That function pulls the latest system update from XBOX.com.

Don't apply that update on a 16747 JTAG/RGH kernel - use the 16747 update instead.

I put dashlaunch updtserv on a usb drive and it starts the xbox up to a black screen giving me my ip address. I type this into J-Runner and hit "Scan IP" and it comes back with No Xbox Detected. I'm still able to download cover art and title updates for my games.

Also, is the $Ssytemupdate folder that I unzipped supposed to go in the folder 16747 inside XeBuild?

You don't need the CPU key.

Read page 22 of the J-Runner PDF to learn more about the update process.

Put the 16747 system update folder in the XeBuild\16747 folder and the update process will also send Avatar/Kinect data to your console.

Had everything ready to go and I run into this error in J-Runner when I hit update:
ERROR: console hv patches are not recent enough to support update mode!

update console patches and reboot before trying again.

***** FATAL UPDATE ERROR: unable to parse info reply from console!
