Verbatim If I find em cheap. Mainly Maxcell. I get them cheaper ( more than 50% less than Verbs) and in the last 2 years I may have coastered 2 disks but the error was on my part. I burn 8X or 10X with no trouble..

Nah
Have you heard of Silver Line?
nope but I use memorex and verbatim here and I haven't had a coaster yet :p btw, I have always burned at the fastest speed available though everyone says to go as slow as possible (for weak lasers I guess)

all DL writeable discs do harm to the laser in the long run, as they are harder to read, but not in a particularly measurable way......I wouldn't worry about discs wrecking ur laser

The quality of blank media comes down to the DYE used in the manufacturing of the disk. Verbatim disks are the preferred choice as they have the best quality DYE to suit the red laser in the xbox dvd drives.

The disk cannot damage the laser directly as there isn't any physical contact between them. The damage to the laser is caused because it (the laser) has to work harder to read the back-up media.

Therefore most peeps will advise you to buy the Verbatim disks as they put less stress on the laser.

Hope this helped you to understand the issue...:)

I would love for you all to try, optical quantum dl dvd's.

They are on ebay i have been useing them for some time and have used over 200 of them.I promise you all that you will not be disapointed with them.i have not had a single coaster with them and they play real smooth with great color.

I have used 227 to be exact, the are 31.99 "free shipping" for 50 disc and they are a california based company.

Just try them, you will be satisfied with them.

best way to preserve yout laser is to install all your games to the hard drive and play them from the hard drive every time instead of reading the disk all the time.

I used Memorex when I started I was cheap but I got two cake boxes of bad discs burned every one out of a hundred none were good switched to verbs and an occasional yuden all good on the western front pretty much a buck per disc for verbs way better then replacing a whole game your 3 year old tries to jam in your ps3 and then open it up to find six wii games in it
