Ok so i formatted extrenal toshiba modle# HDD3200E04X and put about 15 games on it. When i try to play any of the games they just lagg like crazy. The Hdd played my wii games fine, but it would get waiting for slow hdd sometimes when tring to start up usbloader gx. So i was going to buy a new hdd for around $90. Here are the options i had in mind. 1. (Western Digital Scorpio Blue 500GB 5400 RPM SATA 3Gb/s 2.5" Internal Notebook Hard Drive WD5000BPVT - OEM) 2. Hitachi 500GB 5,400RPM 8MB Cache 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Notebook Hard Drive - OEM 3.Hitachi X-Series 1TB 3.5" USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive Iam not to worried about the speed of the drive as long as it does not lag.

I assume you have an RGH box?

Dont use external usb drive this is why it lags.

This has been answered before I am sure, none-the-less

Any internal 2.5 drive will work in an RGH (I think 2tb max, I think, check it, I think that it is a little bigger than 2tb but cant remember).

Check this link.

Here is another link on how to copy game saves (that I did).

If you have a non-RGH then I think you can use something like a 350 gig drive formatted in a special way on a retail box (need a file of some sort) search for it - dont know the exact answer but it is here because I have seen it SEARCH

External hard drives shouldn't lag as such. I've used many different types and never experienced noticeable lags. You could try to reformat it and see if that helps. As far as your choice goes I think the 2.5" externals are better cause they can nomally be powered direct by the console. Don't know for sure on the others you have listed but quite a few 3.5" need external power and I find that makes some slow to load after they have gone to "sleep" if not used for a while

As the poster above says you can put your own hdd internally assuming it's the right size physically. Thanks to microsofts release of 320gb systems you can get to that 320gb limit now

Here's ubergeeks guide to do that
