which motherboard version for JTAG?

All,

I am looking to buy a JTAGable XBOX 360 console and there are several ones up for sale on ebay and other sites. I see different versions available but I want HDMI and so I am looking at either a Falcon or Jasper. Between those two, which would be best for now and the future?

I plan to send this to someone to JTAG it for me so I am not so concerned with the difficulty of modding it. I am more focused on its capabilities and likelihood of not giving errors. I read in some other thread that just having a dash version of 7371 does not always work and you won't find out until you check the CB. If this is the case...is that specific to a mobo version?

Also of high importance is a mobo version that is less prone to having the RROD issues later on ( I want to avoid those badly). The prices are ranging between $125 and $230 so they are not cheap, especially considering I will also pay for the JTAG service. So I want to make sure I spend my money wisely. Your advice is greatly appreciated.

I am running mine on a Xenon, those are supposedly the best to run jtag on but I have no idea; But that is not really an option for you I guess, to my understanding Jasper boards are the less prone board to RROD so I guess that would be your best option. Aim for a dashboard lower than 7371, like something running 6xxx just in case. You should consider modding it yourself because you will need to update the dashboard in it often to continue playing new games.

Look up Nand-X and look at the install tutorial, it is really easy to install with a basic understanding of soldering, and it will let you update very painlessly.

I don't own a JTag just yet, but I've got one on the way. I looked around on eBay and settled on a Xenon. If you can find a Jasper that isn't updated, then that's going to be your best bet against RROD, simply because they are newer, use the smaller power brick, and run a bit cooler. That said, if I thought a Jasper was all that important, I would have kept looking for one. HDMI wasn't all that important to me. I just wanted something capable of being jtaged, and at a good price. Mine came to $91, with $11 more for shipping (I just bought it yesterday, so that should give you a good target price to aim for).

Happy hunting!

Thanks all....that was very helpful. I am going to see if I can get a JASPER even though they are pricey. I figure I will spend about another $100 but I think for the peace of mind it will be worth it and I can sell my existing one on ebay to get some of the money back.

Nand-X qsb arent that great. In general, I saw they are nothing but trouble. Jtag wiring in general is easy with common sense. Btw, Ebay doesnt allow you to sell jtags only jtaggables.
