I just got this in the mail over the weekend and I must say its the best 65 bucks I've ever spent. Games look so amazing on the monitor, and the X3 startup flubber and Avalaunch look so clear and sharp its like a whole new experience. Anyways, I wanted to ask about anyone out there that uses the X2VGA+ and running 720p games. They show up fine on the montior, however they run in a box with about a 2 inch border all the way around. Adjusting the picture to stretch does no good. I'm wondering if its my monitor, a NEC 950FP. I have not tried any 1080i games yet but will tonight with Dragon's Lair 3D so I'm not sure what to expect. 480p games take up the whole screen. And finally, what does the flubber sequence from the X3 run at when you first turn on the Xbox?

I'm not positive but I thought you could only get the X2VGA from the official website - http://www.x2vga.com

I don't have the X2VGA+, I have one of the original run X2VGA. Definitely the best picture quality possible with the Xbox.

As far as your question, Bushweaver, I think it's because you're using a monitor and not an HDTV. Technically speaking 720p is high definition which is also 16:9 widescreen format. You could test my theory by enabling widescreen on your Xbox. I'm betting enabling widescreen will give you a perfect letterboxed screen on your xbox (black bars will remain on top and bottom, but will be eliminated on the sides).

And the BIOS screen and Microsoft Dashboard run in 480i. They probably won't display on your monitor. Answers to a lot of basic questions about different resolutions can be found at X2VGAs website. Let me know what you find after enabling widescreen...I'm curious.

From X2VGA Website.......

Does X2VGA+ support DVD display in the Xbox?
The Xbox console can only display DVD's in 480i mode (480p mode is disabled by Microsoft); therefore, it is not suitable to use X2VGA+ together with Xbox when you want to play DVD's. (We know that some users can play DVD's in 480p mode with X2VGA+ through some modifications on the Xbox console. However, we don't suggest in doing this way.)

LMAO !! :)

Thanks for that info slizzap I'll try that when I get home tonight and reply back here. The 720p game I was using was Soul Calibur 2 so I bet if I enabled widescreen like you say, it will fix things up. I wanted to say that I did try my first 1080i game last night, Dragon's Lair 3D, and HOLY sh*t it looked so amazing it was like you could reach into the screen and touch the son of a bitch running around. And as for where you can get the X2VGA+, as far as I know, you can only get it from www.x2vga.com I can vouch for them being top notch, great customer service, and fast shipping times.

Your drive in the a1310n is a 16X DVD(+/-)R/RW (+/-)R DL LightScribe drive. That should work just fine.
