Why do I need to take a NAND Dump?

Hey guys

I wanna buy a cheap 360 console and just RGH2 it for the fun of it... I want it to be as cheap as possible and was wondering, what is a NAND Dump, why do I need to take one and can I get away without it?

Lots of the guides simply show which wires to solder but I feel like there is more to it.... Is it as simple as adjusting the settings on the chip, soldering the wires in and then installing the "software" ?

Thanks
Matt

Your questions seems to me u have not done enough research.
Reading or watching plenty of tutorials will help u understand about rgh alot more.

I cannot find any good guides or tutorials, I found one good one but it goes for 3 hours and I figured someone here could answer my question easier.

you have to "take a dump" because you need to copy all the data on the nand, and rewrite some files to allow the system to run the way you want it to. normally you can't run modified files on a 360 because it needs to be signed with a microsoft key. using the jtag or rgh methods will allow that system to run unsigned code, which is the key to doing all the things you can do with it.
