why one answer leads to another question

I would like to thank all of you who provided so much information with my last question; you have helped me to choose the Xecuter3 for my daughter’s xbox with a hard drive upgrade.
After extensive reading I want to go with avalaunch as the dashboard as it seems to get the highest marks from the modding community.
One if the things that has me stumped is which bios should I use and where can I find bio’s I have googled every combination and have found all sorts on xbox bios info but none to download a friends son gave me a disk with 4983 and the m8 bios but I have no clue which one is what I need.
Rather than repeat what I want it for my original question was posted here http://www.teamxecuter.com/index.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=150696#150696 .
I apologize it this is painfully obvious of those of you who have been doing this a while but before asking I read the forums until it feels like my eyes are bleeding and I only find myself more confused.

Thank you

hey ive got a link for ya...... http://www.teamxecuter.com/index.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=21054
next time actually READ the forums like you claim....its a sticky in the X3 Bios Flashing Section

im not trying to flame or anything....but seriously everyone "says" they read all the rules and stickies....but they dont
Thank you for the link that answers the where but not the which one.

whether or not you choose to believe me of not when I say I have read the forums is up to you judging by you rating you have been on the forums for quite a while and perhaps don’t appreciate the shear volume of information that some one like myself has to sift through no to mention how overwhelming it is when you have no real clue as to what you are reading means for the most part.

and as an after thought you never missed somthing right in front of your face?

Not to flame back or anything

now look to the left......Latest Bios Versions....thought that one was obvious
and again thats why they are called stickies....even if you dont want to search the forums for other ppl with the same problems you could at least read the first 3-4 or 5+ stickies in each section....your posting in the wrong section now if you didnt realize

So then the latest one, it doesnt matter how you plan to use it...and no it really isnt that obvious when you mind numbingly new to the process, and was under the impression that diffrent bois had diffrent applications.
But for what its worth thanks for clearing that up for me.

Hey Tech, don't let it get to you. The people who need the information the quickest are the ones who haven't been on the forums long and don't know the "rules" and typical order of operations. If you frequent the forums (for install tips, resolving any issues you have, etc) you'll get used to the way the boards are organized and everything. It's just that when people who have been around here for a long time have to answer the same questions over and over, that are in a sticky, it get's on peoples' nerves.

No offense intended to anyway, I'm just trying to make a point to not take any of this personal - I read the threads a hell of a lot more than I post, and I see the same things again and again (same question, same response)...

But in response to your last post, yes, there are some bioses that are special purpose and server specific tasks (like the cromwell flashbios, or the cromwell linux bootloader, gentoox loader, etc), but for the purposes you are describing, stick with the latest X3 bios (currently 1959).

Congrats on deciding to go for the X3.

Try this link ..Should help you out..... And the BIOS you need is 1959 OR 1959_v16plus if you have a 1.6 version box..

While you are at it, just get hold of the Slayer installation disk. That will sort your dash out and will put loads of goodies on your system.

Hope it helps mate. When you are an XBOX guru, remember the noobs.

naa, don't go with slayers, get avalaunch, its way better. UnleashX is good too, but I personally don't like it as much.

last time I checked it installed evox as main dash, then an old crappy version of avalaunch as an app...

So, what the difference between a dashboard and an application? As far as I can see the only difference is that the dashboard is just an application that is launched by the bootloader in the BIOS. Once it is loaded you are then chaining back and forth from one app to the next.

So, whats the big deal? You take the slayer install, upgrade the avalaunch version, then make avalaunch the dash (first app loaded) rather than evox.

The important thing is yo have your xbox up and running with minimal effort. For newbs, this is crucial. Once it is up and running, Slayers gives you a chance to check out different dashboard before you decide on the one you like. Once you know which one YOU want to use (its all a matter of personal preference - personally, I am waiting on XMBC to stabilise a little), you make that the primary dash. In the mean time, you have an xbox that will allow to to backup games to HDD, and play back.

What's there not to like?

You may want to look into Auto Installer Deluxe if you are thinking of going the slayers route. I believe you get avalaunch and unleashX with it instead of the outdated evox dash. Don't know to much about it but my guess is you won't get as many old and useless apps. You can get more info on xbox-scene.com.

LOL only slightly overwelming.
I can see I have just began a new education.

Just the cross rhetoric is baffling.

I know this is the wrong thread for this, as was pointed out but rather than start a new one
I plan to have someone do my mod as I lack the… balls to take a flame thrower to a new xbox. The company that does them sales blurb says this:

What you get..
• Xecuter3 Professionally Installed
• New Executer2 4983 or M8 bios
• AVALAUNCH + utilities including XBMC Preinstalled on HD

Now this is where I get lost, (more lost) the bios mentioned I didn’t see any matching bios on the ftp to ether the 4983 or the M8, I have heard the M8 mentioned but cannot find it.
Has anyone heard of the 4983 bios?
and whats the diffrence between the m8 and X3_1959.

4983 is the latest X2 BIOS. Me thinks that you don't want that for your X3!

Look on the left hand side of the screen on the home page, it will give you the latest BIOS.

p.s. I think it is illegal for companies to install BIOS's onto the chip for you after install , so I would look closely into what they are actually offering.

So, you have managed to get in to Xbins? You need mIRC and Ftp client!
http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/xbins.php

On the ftp there is different directorys for Apps and Bioses, X3 and X2.x
is under Xecuters (I think), Evox_M8 alias M8 is under Evox (i think).

Do you have X2.x? Then use 4983.bin or Evox_m8.bin ! (4983 is the build number).

If you have X3 use X3_1959.bin !
