Why remove pin #4 & #6?

More specifically why is it required to remove the extra pin on the header for a v1.6 xbox. I did one where I didn't remove it. It seemed to work fine. What kinda of ramifications are involved with not removing this extra pin?

I am sure it is the redesign of the xbox at fault but do I need to worry about it my mistake in not removing it? Furthermore is it possible that I have/might ruin the chip somehow?

Just curious. Thanks.

Either my couch or my chair.
the point for removing the extra pin is so the chip does not pull power from the lpc bus. the power on the lpc bus never shuts off, so by using the power for it, the modchip has power even when the xbox is not on, which could shorten the chip's life.

you can disable the chip, even when disabled, your chip still has power, as with any version of the chip, but your chip will have power unless the xbox is unplugged from the wall.

When you say pop, did you actually hear a pop??

What's the secondary code on the 360?

hi!

how many different RROD's do exist?
if there is some thread about all the RROD's i would appreciate a link to that.

my friend have got a box that RROD on him, he bought a new one.
i asked if i could buy the bad one cheap and he agreed. i havent bought it yet but im planning to use it on live (because it is not flashed)

so i have to learn alot about RROD's now!

Go to xbox-experts.com. On the home page you will see the Xbox Repair Guide on the right. Or you can go straight to the Error code list/ Database.

You can view deatils on every error and it will give you suggested ways to fix it. Also, read the following post to give you some tips on repairing your console: http://forums.xbox-experts.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=73

If you decide to do a reflow, use flux - it helps a lot and makes the repair last much longer. Most of the consoles I get I can easily fix with my heatgun and flux - I also finish them off with a good x-clamp fix.
