Why update OFW to 6.1 or higher?

I am a bit of a newb, so this question may be dumb, but why do people want to update to 6.2?

My switch OFW is 2.1.0 and my emunand is 5.1.0 and everything works fine.

Can't they update emunand to 6.1 or 6.2 and not risk anything?

Is quite the contrary for now, as sxOS doesn't support 6.2.

That's why I am asking. I am asking why do other people want to update? Like why did they update to 6.2 in the first place. That was my question

SX OS implement the emunand for play backups, Homebrew, etc. So is safe (99%) in original firmware.

I wanted to update because on my CFW switch I only had a "unlinked" nintendo account. Having a linked nintendo account is sometimes required for some games (even offline) so I thought : I will have to do this at some point.
To link your account to nintendo you must be on the latest firmware. I did this now to avoid doing this later. Once SX gets 6.2 compatibility, I go CFW "forever".
