Why waste money on CK3 and the probe? My resistorless homemade probe worked Flawless

Well I've flashed a ton of drives in the past but have always just avoided Lite ons. Well with the release of Madden 13 and me still not forking up the money for a PS3 ( due to only playing madden on console ) I finally said screw it and I tried to flash my drive.

At first I was again as before looking at all the CK3's and Probes that you supposedly need. Well, I'm not one that likes to waste money on stuff like that.

I opened up my lite on drive Dg-16d2s and went to town. I spliced a switch into the power connector of the drive to avoid buying the over priced CK3 toy. For the probe I simply took the pointer of a multimeter and added an alligator clip to the other side to ground on the xbox case.

I probed the mxp01 port after doing the Phatkey on Jungleflasher and BAM. First attempt I got the key and was able to flash w/o anything weird like holding the drive door open.

Is all this crap about having to use the CK3 and probe an advertising ploy by team executor or what? I didn't go crazy putting resistors or anything on my probe, just grounded to the xbox chassis.

Lastly, Before the rage flaming comes in cause I'm cheap. I do not cheap out on the discs as I only use Verbatim and have flashed my 124ihas to Burnermax.

Not everyone has a compatible onboard SATA chipset. You definitely need tools for using a laptop. I don't have a Desktop so I need the tools. And if you were actually ripping your own retail disks, you would need the equipment aside from the Probe.

I use a homemade PMT probe to get the keys, never had an issue. Laptop or desktop as long as i use something compatible it works fine. I now use the 360usbprov2. I have pictures of it on my profile, i just used an old SPEAR i had that was outdated and useless. The jungleflasher tutorial talks about my method also. Like you i dont use any resistors.

Now I'm curious? Since I used the MPX01 and others do the tx port? Is this specific per Liteon model?

A lot of people and tutorials say to probe the tx port.

I'm offering a few friends a flash (sounds funny doesn't it) lol I want to make sure I can use MXP no matter what liteon they have (PHAT).
