X3 in, soldered, solder checked and double checked, new 40G HD, boot into avalaunch.. no probs.. I can even boot into the MS dash from Avalaunch or XBMC..

So far so good.. however.. when i try to boot into the MS Dash by depresing the power button and holding it, it still boots into the Avalaunch dash..

I've checked all the cabling, for pcb problems, wiring etc, and still no joy..
:shock:

anyone.... any takers??

Trying To Power Cycle The Drive With Xbox as a power source

I am powering the drive from the xbox, and would like to find an easier way to power cycle the drive than having to pull and re-insert the power cord within the one second JF requires. I came across this thread here which talks about the different wires for the drive;

http://www.360mods.net/index.php?file=viewtopic&highlight=self+made+serial+com+port&name=Forums&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0&t=11915

The post by RayHaque talks about using the 5v line to power cycle the drive. Does anyone know if this is correct, or would you have to put a switch on the two 12v wires as well?

I know I can order something like a connectivity kit but would like to know if it would be as simple as putting a switch on the 5v line to power cycle the drive.
