hi all.

i'm having an issue with a customers jtag and don't quite want to have to embarass myself just yet asking them what wiring this thing has in so i hope you guys can help me out here.
this could really do with a photo to show the wiring but i have no camera to hand so i am having to try and explain as best as i can.
its a little like the hybrid smc but its on different points to what i know the hybrid to use. its got 4 diodes in the wiring. one across the bridge between points 7 and 3, 1 diode on point 1 going to the alt db1f1 point, and 2 diodes on point 2 with one diode to r2p12 and one to ft2p1 for the jtag wiring. WTF is that all about.
i am trying to fix this on a tight budget for the owner so i don't really want to get into moving the wiring round to the alt wiring i'm familiar with but without knowing what the current wiring is and how to set up the correct smc setting in the flash for it i don't even know how to proceed to get freeboot configured correctly. any help would be great with this even if its just a term i can search the wiring on google with. i just cant seem to find the correct search words on this at the moment.

While you stated that you're unable to determine which SMC points he's using from the mutliple wiring you didn't say exactly what the fault or problem?

My deductions so far that you want to update his dash, right? Also I'm guessing he's either using the default points with alteranate wiring or Boxxxdr method.

If you have his CPU key and original NAND/current NAND dump then I would suggest re-wiring everthing to the alternate points (audio_clamp & open_tray) and compiling freeboot to these settings,

really. i'm not familiar with it at all but did get into jtagging very late in the game. i use the aud clamp open tray wiring on anything other than a xenon usually.

so am i correct to think if i use jtag tool it will just be non xenon 2 diode options? as if it was wired to db1f1 and rol? its mostly this that has thrown me with it as none of jtag tools options show this wiring system. at this point i am abput ready to just give it back to the customer as i hate doing new things on anything but my own stuff.

original problem is its not booting. no red lights just centre green and nothing. customer says it started doing this after he got e66 error on an xgd3 backup and then wouldnt boot after he updated the drive firmware only. i suspect he may also have updated the dash from the disc. u6t1 is bridged though so my next plan of attack was flash a new freeboot to it as i already reflashed the drive to be sure it had nothing to do with that.

i'm leaning towards rewiring it then as the best option. just hope its not an oncoming rrod fault. its a v2 falcon though so i'm going to look at that last.

If you go with the alternate points then it's just the 2 diodes and preferably a resistor between the bridge points. I have used resistors up to 680ohm for the bridge point and it worked fine.

Recompile freeboot and flash away, then report back.

NB. Just from personal opinion, dump the NAND as it is before you proceed. You may never know .

i am going to rewire it now, dump the current nand and then flash its original nand back to it and start from scratch. after just speaking with the customer it has been updated to 13599 with easy freeboot and worked for a few days until the dvd drive firmware update and not booted since.
why am i thinking onset of rrod lol.

thanks for the help to you both, i will report back soon.

for reference r2p12 is an alt point for the RoL part of the wiring.

I'm not sure what is going to ft2p1 though - can you get/find a pic online of this area?

hi guys. well its booting now and before i went ahead and rewired it i wrote a fresh freeboot with original wiring options back to it after dumping the current nand and it booted right up. so it would seem it is indeed normal wiring lol and the cause was an incorrect smc config that easy freeboot made. i have had my girlfriend come over so i can use her camera to get a shot of it, she will email me it later tonight so i can post it here for you to have a look at martin. i've searched for a while on google images for the same method but turned up a blank. thats my learning done for the day i hope. thanks again to you both, as always your knowledge has come good for me.
