Will box boot after install if not programed?.

Hi all.

Ok after missing some important info about having to program the coolrunner, i decided to go ahead and install it to one of my spare consoles. ready for when i do.

Ive currently done the wire install as the QSB is out of stock.

Is it ok to try to boot the xbox which the chip in, i have just installed but nothing else?

It should boot just fine if you left your stock NAND image on there but if you flashed the .ecc file to the NAND, the console won't boot until you program the CoolRunner.

Ok here we go, had a feeling this was going to happen...

I just booted the console, i get a black screen and green light for about 10 seconds, meanwhile every 4-5 seconds i can hear a slight pulse in the fans, very slight. After 15 secnds i get 3 red lights.

I have not touched the nand or programmed the board.

Switches are set to PHAT/NORM

I suggest you hold off until you program the CoolRunner or de-solder it until it is programmed.

But would it not do anything unless its been programed?, im in no rush its a spare console. Actually was fitted with a cygnos but that got on my nerves, so i actually have all the keys for the console already.

Funny you say that , i was gonna try that next, will post back.

I was thinking though, surely if the chip is blank and you turn it on, it should not do anything?, what happenes if you get a failed glitch, do you get red rings?

I already have my cpu keys and a full nand dump and dvd keys ect from this console, long story dont ask.

So all i really need to do, is flash my hacked nand, which i created already, and program the cool runner i should be good to go.
