Will the x3 work for this?

I've got a problem with my xbox. I wanted a new EEPROM for XBL and saw that a reputable member at xbox-scene was selling them, so I payed and asked for a 1.6 eeprom because I have a 1.6 xbox. I recieved the eeprom and I installed it using config magic exactly the way it's stated in a tutorial in those forums, everything went smoothly. But, afterwards when I turned off my xbox and rebooted without the modchip on to try to connect to live nothing came on the screen, I had a blank screen with no audio and a solid green led, and when I pressed the eject button the tray would not come out and the light around the eject button started and kept blinking green forever. I also tried to boot with the modchip (I have an x2.6 CE) on and it does the exact same thing. I also cannot ftp to my xbox. I'm assuming I was given a wrong verson or corrupted EEPROM (or maybe my 13 and 14 pins aren't soldered well enough and just happened to fail right when I changed my EEPROM, but I doubt it). Now to the point of this post: I was told that a way to fix this would be to use a 4th gen modchip to reflash the eeprom using my original back up one (it's on my PC, whew). So since i've already installed a 2.6 CE into my 1.6, it's seems logical that the 4th gen I should use would be the x3 because of the same wiring. So my question is this: would the x3 be able to do this? And since I'm getting a blank screen and my dvd tray won't open is it possible to do this? Someone on xbox-scene said he thought that the x3 had an onboard OS and doesn't need an EEPROM to boot or a bios of any kind, but he wasn't sure. Sorry for the long read, but I thought I come ask the pro's here what they think. Thanks in advance!

Maybe your copied in the wrong EEprom in? Did you double check to see it matched with the one you were given?

I've never done what you're asking, so I can't answer categorically, but...

Once you have the 1959_v16plus bios flashed to the X3, one option is to write to the EEPROM. so I'd say it was possible.

I can't say anything about booting though.

I'm not sure what you mean, I think I was given a corrupt or wrong version eeprom. I used Config Magic to copy the eeprom I was given into my xbox. I have my original working eeprom on my pc but I can't ftp to my xbox now to change it back. All the video settings and region and stuff matched. I think my only option is to try the x3 but I don't know if it is capable? Anyone know? Or I could solder a new eeprom chip in from another xbox...but that's last resort...
