yes but heat guns reflow uneven really & are touch & go as its not really a long term repair most of the time. Sometimes you get a good reflow & all is good & others a few months later you have to reflow again, Now that said. the down fall is that you only get so many trys with a reflow then the chip gets to much heat wear from all the heat from the reflow & breaks down the life of the chip. so the more you heat the chip the less life it has after a couple times of reflowing. 1-3 times & there is still life left if the chip was reflowed correctly & in a timely matter.

if you want to do it right just buy that & use it for reballing the chip. then buy a HT-R390 or a HT-R490 BGA these are the best bang for the buck on the market. if you really want a BGA rework machine I would contact [email protected]

he is the US dealer for rework machines & gives the best prices & support.

Just tell him Ghenghis sent you & he will treat you right ;)

Gave me a great deal on my HT-R490

xconsoles being an official Xecuter reseller has nothing to do with X-tronic... two completely different things.

Anyways, if you want to spend an extra $10 I recommend getting an Aoyue 968A. It comes with a vaccum pickup tool which is essential in my opinion if you are thinking of going that far. Also since you are doing reflows with hot air, you must also have a bottom preheater. Most of this info can be found here which has some awesome tips and vital information.

My AOYUE 2702A works just fine thanks
I have the same station but I do not like it the only thing I ever use that one for is mabe lifting the nands or ethernet chips. Simply because its a heatgun so to speak. For a begginer he is going to bubbling the chips and warping the board.

Seems like those suggestions are a massive jump from a 165 dollar solder station to 1000 dollar or more complete rework stations or infrared stations.

If your looking at a budget reflow station then the above poster is right you'll need an underside heater to go with a hot air station. The T-8280 is the right size and about the cheapest efficient one. You'll also need a jig to stop boards warping and other little pieces.

You'll be looking at around 500 dollars to get a kit that will be effective.

When used correctly there are plenty of people getting great results with a hot air setup.

There are cheper IR stations than that. The reason I suggest getting a IR station is becuase you are going to go through alot of consoles during the trial and error process.
