So Basically, i was just thinking about the old phat's and there add-on XCM fans, well they plugged into the dvd drive power and then the it got split off from a little board so it powers both, well i was wondering if you could plug it into the slim power cables and it work the same?

Yes, it's the same cable for phat and slim drives.

I'm sure those fans are ran from a 12v power source.

The XBOX 360 slim has 12v power sources too .

My question would be can a slim handle the extra load? Probably yes still something to consider.

Hmm, anyone got any of them laying around? I Don't unfortunately otherwise i would try it. :/

A fan has almost zero load on a PSU, even at 12v. I think they run at less than 0.5A. I don't see it being an issue. If you want to overload it with fans, buy a Xenon PSU and a slim PSU adaptor.
