I was installing the X3 chip when a bunch of solder landed right on the mb bios points. I tried ot get it off and well, the chip is all messed up. If I continue to install the X3 chip, will it still work by booting past the main bios? Or is it new MB time?

Possibly if the only damage done is to the bios itself. You should really get yourself a solder sucker though and try and clean the mess up.

if all you did was mess up the bios then the chip will still work, but if there are solder splashes that are causing a short then you will need to fix them. but the chip will still work

modeb the drive first then put unlock cd in, here is a direct quote from the faq's in the jungleflasher guide
Q" I am trying to insert the unlock79 CD but I press twice to close and it opens again!"
A "This is fairly common, in mode B some drives take 3 presses of eject button
instead of 2 to get the drive to stay closed!"

If the drive has already been flashed before with Iextreme open the drive pwoer cycle and hold the drive open this will put it into mode b for you :)

this is incorrect.
The correct procedure is to eject, cycle power(not from front of console). If tray closes on repowering then mode b is set.
dont hold tray open - you will only damage the tray mechanisim or motor
