Hey guys, currently in the process of doing my first winbond kamakazi hack. Im using an electril screwdriver with a small blunt drillbit attached, seems to be going fine and Im only taking small bits off at a time.

I've just come to where I can see a small portion of a trace, do I keep dremelling into the trace or do I try drill around it? Thanks!

pics ASAP!!!

do not drill to far, you ony need to cut one trace, the one below should not be cutted, the hole should not be more than 1mm wide also

Put a game in then close the drive up and see if a game plays. If it does play you can do the pout fix.

Not a chance, stuff like this is about learning from mistakes. I will be extra careful next time. I knew going into this there is a chance of breaking it so I'm not too worried! I still have the key.

Oh and I just put it back in the xbox and its playing games fine! :D Where do I go from here? Try it again or go another route? Thanks for the help.

The key by itself is no good. Did you save the dummy.bin?

Yea I have the dummy file, I've done every drive before this winbond hack including the trace cuts so I'm not a newbie to things like this. I just wanted to push myself a bit further.

DUDE you have to use a small dremel bit size 0.8 mm is reccomended, dremel next time slowly, slowly, slowly, thats the success story, i have already done 10 and all of them work great, remember the key is patience AND HAVE THE RIGHT TOOLS.
may i just know what dremel size you used??!!

Oh I forgot to mention, it must of been something to do with jungleflasher that it didn't eject previously, the drive is still working fine thank f**k! haha. So will I just try drill a bit north of the hole or can it not be done anymore? Thanks for all the help guys!

Well TBH flashing a drive is a very noob thing anyway. T-X and JF have made it almost idiot-proof a child can do it :)

If you're willing to waste a few boards practicing, then no-one here is going to stop you. All we ask is you don't create any more posts on the subject. Our official stance is get a proper T-X replacement board since this is a T-X support site.

As for where you are right now, mark the hole using pin locations as a guide and go from there.

Yea that's fine with me. I've been a long time customer of TX, hell I have nearly their entire range of products. I wont make any other threads so don't worry about that. I plan on getting this done tonight so any more helpful replies are most appreciated :D

Going from my previous image uploaded, can somebody put a circle around where I should drill roughly? I thought I calculated the spot properly and we know how that turned out! :p

There's no "roughly". Use the guides for marking the hole and score the top of the chip to find the centre. Then go from there.
