JUNGLE FLASHER winbond unlock jf problem

first a bit of info

my drive is a liteon slim 9504 updated today thru xbl to 0272 by our friends at ms id been holding back as i didnt want my fw overwritten but now theres an unlock method i decided to take the plunge.

anyway ive marked the chip as instructed for my position, solderer my wire with 100 ohm resistor to the 3.3v point on the board as instructed and attached the other end to my dremel bit and should be good to go on the drilling, however when i load up jungleflasher it sees my drive fine and the slim unlock no longer works for obvious reasons but the bit im wanting to check out is that according to the tutorials when i intro the drive and it asks me to click yes and power cycle the drive i do that but nothing happens unlike in the tut where it says i should get a message saying the spi is unlocked and do i want to try unlocking it.

obviously im not going to start drilling until i can get this resolved.

anybody any ideas why this is happening? it should be added im using my pc's onboard sata with ck3 to power the drive and all the tuts are using usbpro but ive flashed over 100 drives and have always used this setup and infact flashed this exact slim with lt+ back about april and back to stock before updating thru xbl today with the same setup. is there some reason that not using usbpro could be causing this like jungleflasher is being programmed to only allow the winbond unlock method with usbpro or is it something else? cheers in advance

no mines 1.38 . using the latest 1.87 jf but i never new they had a new tut out cheers.

its on the dl now but i dont see an spi lock/unlock button on jf

i read the tut there and seen that but i think you are missing the point i was making. you see in the tut im supposed to intro the drive first and get it in vendor mode before the button appears but when i try to intro the drive and power cycle nothing happens so i never get to the point of pushing that button. its the same if i try slimkey as instructed in the tut it tells me to hit ok the power cycle the drive but nothing happens and i get slimkey failed.

jf is seeing the drive fine and is verifying the key etc but it just will not do anything when i attempt to intro the drive to get it in vendor mode.

thats what i was reading, read this from the same tut,

Make sure to open up the most current version Jf. If you dont have your dummy.bin now would be a good time to do that lol. Once you are ready intro the drive, you will be notified the the drive is locked and will ask if you want to attempt to unlock it. Obviously click yes and you should see dots in the log window

that bit ive highlighted is exactly what im trying to say, when i do that i dont get a mesage notifying me the drive is locked i get nothing but a message saying resending vendor intro and about 2 lines of dots before it reports device intro failed

its status is 0x51 which changes to 0xD1 briefly and then back when i power cycle

i dont mean this in a rude way but, have you not read what ive said several times above?

there is no unlock button because i cant get the drive into vendor mode, thats my problem. i know about the unlock button i just cant get that far

If JF can see your driver but can get into vendor mode, Try to use probe 3 and point to MPX01. It will get into vendor mode

it sounds very much like a SATA problem!

Your drive inst going into Vendor mode!

there are a few on-board chipsets that work but not many!


I would recommend a X360USB Pro for the task!

And YES! i know you may have flashed this very drive before using your onboard SATA (but as you mat have noticed it is now a 0272, which is also locked - it now a totally different drive!)

Chipset is your problem!

Well i ordered the x360 usbpro last night so im just waiting on it now. Might still give probe 3 and mpx01 a go later for something to do tho. Lol

ok x360 usbpro arrived today, straight into vendor mode np, out with the dremel and about 5 minutes later 1 unlocked windond. cheers guys

I`m having the exact same problem as this guy was, and I know he had tpo be as frustrated as I am now. But I dont see as to where anyone was able to help him. I am on a 0225 dg-16d4s winbond. I already have the kamikazee ready, but cant get into vendor mode. :frown:
