Hey everyone,

I've read everything you can read about doing this stuff and I finally started to mod my Hitachi 78 drive today. I booted up into Slax 2, got the drive in mode B (confirmed), but when I boot into windows and pop in a DVD, nothing happens. I checked device manager, and it's not there, and when I load up the Maximus software, it doesn't find anything.

I havent seen anything about this in other posts or tutorials so I'm a big scared of what to do next.

Is it ok to power off and on either the PC or xbox now?

I dont want to brick this thing.

I have an ASUS A8N-SLI Premium Mobo, with 4 SATA slots and 4 RAID SATA slots.

I'm using the drive on SATA 2 next to my HD on SATA 1.

Should I use the RAID SATA 1 slot?

Any help would be really appreciated!

Thanks!

Update...

I restarted the PC and left the 360 on. I booted into the bios and this is what is shows:

First SATA Master Maxtor HD
Second SATA Master HL-DT-STDVD-ROM

But when I load windows I only get my IDE NEC Burner, and an alcohol 120% image drive.

Maximus doesn't pick up anything!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

at the windows loading bar after the bios screen edject the drive a few times and that might help windows recognize it.

I don't know if it makes any difference but I too have the sam mobo but I used version 2.1 of the Slax boot CD. I have flashed 2 or 3 MS28 drives using this disk and have had no problems.

Make sure you are using the plain SATA slots and not the SIL raid slots 'cos they won't work.

Thanks for the replies.

I had Dameon Tools running and forgot to disable it. I restarted and did the opening and closing drive trick and it worked.

Dumped and flashed flawlessly.

Thanks again.
