Wire guage + Stranded vs Solid

Questions:

1) Does anybody know the guage for the black and red wires on the coolrunner?

2) Are the other wires on the coolrunner 30AWG?

3) Would it matter if I used solid wire instead of the stranded that comes with the coolrunner?

Thx

use 28 - 30 gauge kynar wire. solid strand doesn't work as well as you might think, solder doesn't stick very good.
Its like paint, if you have a smooth surface it won stick to it very well unless you sand it down. but a bunch of thin wires twisted up tight, the solder will soak in and hold quite nice...

sorry john you may be right 26 - 28 sounds about right.

I asked because I don't have the original wires that come with the coolrunner.

I'm pretty sure 30AWG are for the regular wires. So, 26AWG for black and red?

I've soldered with solid wire before (not xboxes) and never have had a problem but, I was just wondering if there was any particular reason why the coolrunner came with the stranded kind.

I find that solid wire is easier to use if you're just going to remove them again, like is the case for nand flashing.
