hey I have an x3 modchip here with no pinheader or wire install adapter
I was wondering if i were to just stick wires into each slots and then do the 1.6 wire install OR just match them to lpc and then do lpc rebuild, would that work?
Is it possible to get a x3 pinheader? which one would be easier to do?

Thanks

You can pick up pinheader components from most PCB electrical outlets.

Check with a local chip supplier - someone should be able to supply one for a couple of $$.

The pinheader is the best way to install by far.

Any component electrical store will have the pinheaders - they are a standard size (actually the same dimensions as what's used on IDE sockets), so if you took a HDD cable and found something which would plug into it perfectly, then it will fit - obviously it would only need to be 8 pins along and not a full 20!!

ya i have the x3 just no pinheader/wireinstall

and special op, so just solder each wire to the back of the black adapter port where you normally plug with pinheader in? (there is a solder spot for each one?)

you can just compare the 1.6 rebuild diagram to the wire install diagram and wire the points from the pinheader->wireadapter to the points of the rebuild, then the other wires direct to lpc

Fixing broken power brick possible?

After battling the E74 for just over a month (didn't realize 3 year warranty covered it) my xbox broke again yesterday. After heat-gunning it, I let it cool down for about 30-45 minutes. I started it up and it worked.

After this, I turned it off and took a multimeter I have and put the -ve prong in one of the screw holes (removed all the screws the first time and never returned them) and the +ve prong on one of the mosfets to try and make sure I could tap it for 12V. I started it up to get a reading and my power brick gave me the little red light for a problem, as well as instant 3 red lights with no fans spinning.

I unplugged the power brick and let it chill for 2 hours (recommended on Xbox site) and retried it with no success. I'm not sure if there is something I possibly did with my meter, but I really want to fix the brick as opposed to buying a new one. I already popped it open, but have no idea where to begin inside due to fear of shock even when unplugged. It is a Falcon PSU from last march, so it isn't that old. If this is even possible, then any help would be appreciated.

Honestly it's not electronically safe to mess with a power supply, just buy a new one so you dont burn your house down.
