wire install for 1.6 with PCB already installed

Here is my story.

I had a xbox 1.4-1.5 and I installed a 2.3 pro onto it using a pin header and it worked great. Loved it!:D

I thought it was the greatest thing in the world. Told all my friends about it. One of them asked me to mod his xbox 1.6 with an executer 2.6. Now for "a little knowledge is dangerous". I installed the pin header and then found out I had to do the LPC rebuild. Then stupidity kicked in...I tried using the PCB that came with the chip and I could not get it to attach to the motherboard with the globs of solder on the pin header. I then tried to remove it and pulled a couple of traces and fried the board.:(

I ordered a new board from ebay...it turned out to be a xbox 1.6 with the xecuter PCB already professionally soldered in place and the LPC holes filled in. Looks like they were trying to create an easy way to do a wire install. Why they did not also do the pin header is beyond me.

I looked at all the diagrams on this site and I am puzzled as to how to attach the wires.

Should I do the 1.5 wire install right onto the filled holes since the PCB has been used to fix the LPC? And connect the red 5v wire to the alternate point?

Your advice is urgently needed because he is now breathing down my neck to fix his xbox....I won't be doing this for anyone again.

Please reply to this post directly...from what I have been reading there are others having a similar problem and they could benefit from your answer.

Thanks to all that reply!

Opinion... use the 1.0-1.5 install except for the red and green wires. Red to alt 5v, green to point indicated in the 1.6 install. Since you've got the LPC rebuild installed you should be able to use those nice big holes for all the other wires. Insulate the alt 5v header on the chip since you won't be using it!

When you find what works for you follow up on the 2.6 wire install sticky so future installers might benefit.

I had a much more in-depth explanation but my editing time ran out and I lost the text. Sorry but it's too late for me to retype the whole thing.

wire install (2.6 or x3)

Here is a little follow up.

I decided I don't know which chip I have. It is purple and I now think it is an x3 does that change anything for the wire install.

BTW, if no one has anything to add I will use the previously posted advice.

Thanks
